Some relatively serious bugs remain in 2.2, so I am making a list of bugs to be squashed in 2.21. Let me know if I missed any big ones...

* Unit Loyalty not saved correctly
* Unit Loyalty lost on reorganization of units
* Starting faces for country leaders are all the same?
* Carthage needs a stronger starting fleet
* The Available Decisions alert sometimes shows colonies instead of decisions
* The Senate can ask for imprisoned or foreign characters to take command of armies or fleets
* It is possible to give titles to dead characters, and attempt to assassinate them
* The "Become Ruler" ambition is far too prevalent
* Decrease the effects of looted provinces on populism

* Decrease the effects of looted provinces on populism

I find that changing populist support from 10% to 5% per looted province (but keeping the cap at 50%) has worked out in a way that seems about right to me. In a multiplayer game that might still be exploitable I suppose but less so than 10%.

Also, changes for the 2.2 patch state that "Republics now always start with enough previous rulers to command some armies and fill out some offices", but it hasn't been done for Massilia, for example.!

In fact it has only been done for Rome. No other republics.

Noculture and noreligion nations still appear.

I was unable to duplicate this problem for 2.2, and so were all of the beta testers. I really need a save prior to this occurring, or specific details about how and when it happens.

A feature (and possibly therefore something that might not come in a patch sadly) that would be very welcome would be the ability to use the numpad to demand or offer money in the peace negotiation screen. I just tried offering 1000 gold to an AI today, that's 100 clicks in a row.

Wondering if there is a follow up to the ruler ambition being too prevalent - for Rome the Pontifex Maximus role is expected to be for life, but there seems to be just as many that want that job as all the other research roles that you can freely rotate every 2 years which leads to this ambition basically being a dead end that you can't really do much with.

It's perfectly possible to sack him you know. I do this a lot as carthage as you can make him elder (censor? haven't played as rome much) and then general at age 27...

Another probable bug concerns military leaders proposed by the senate not always getting their former general / former admiral titles.

This happens to me a lot. Always a big disappointment after the big dance I perform when the senate has alloted my 18 year old martial 10 military faction member general.'

Not sure if it's related but the ruler won't always be shown to be leading any troops/navies even when he does if he was elected while already doing so.

I'm amazed and glad that the game is still supported, even though I only bought it recently, but I'm confused why the slowness of the character window after opening it past the first time is not #1 on the bug fixes?

Is it an engine problem that is too costly to fix?
Is paradox not able to reproduce it?
I could understand this being acceptable if it was a huge graphic/cpu intensive thing to render a window with a list of characters...but it isn't or shouldn't be..this game isn't/shouldn't be that resource intensive should it???

We have never been able to reproduce it. Exact steps to do so would be much appreciated.

Not a major bug, though.

Looks to me like it is working... Note that month = 6 is true for months 7 and on, etc, like with all our triggers. Oh, and it checks the month of the year.

Any possibility of a status update on the patch? Any more changes than what's already mentioned in the OP?

Well, I've been working hard on the patch, and I expect we'll be posting a beta patch next week. I'd like to optimize the slow character screen first though. Fixed so far:

- Finally fixed the infamous noculture bug that would occur when starting a new game after resigning
- Cohort/ship loyalty now correctly reloaded from saved games
- Cohort/ship loyalty no longer cleared on unit reorganization
- Ruler starting portraits no longer always the same
- Increased starting Carthaginian navy size in bookmarks prior to 202BC
- Increased civilization in the Carthaginian Iberian provinces
- Speed optimizations (CFixedPoint / float casts)
- Senate will no longer ask that you appoint prisoners and foreign envoys to command
- Decreased the effects of looted provinces on populism
- Armies should not be able to loot a province until no enemy armies remain standing still in it
- Added icons for "foreign_rebels" and "desecrated" static modifiers
- Big Army AI: Fixed a crash bug that could occur when colonies were destroyed
- Tweaked Roman alliances with Cleopatra
- Fixed an error in Ager Bruttius' history
- No longer possible to give titles to dead characters, or attempt to assassinate them
- No longer possible to grant titles to foreign envoys
- Fixed missing text bug for 'manpower_percentage' trigger
- New characters will be created as previous rulers for all republics at game start if necessary
- No longer possible to have a negative stability cost (gain money for sacrificing.)
- Event 7401 can no longer fire for envoys
- Added an ambition to become a minister for eligible characters in monarchies
- Toned down the likelihood of the "Become Ruler" ambition in monarchies
- Monarchs no longer retain minor granted titles on assuming the throne
- Generals and admirals no longer lose or gain loyalty and family prestige when assigned or dismised, or when units are reorganized
- Generals and admirals gain some monthly loyalty for each cohort or ship they command that is _not_ personally loyal to them
- No longer possible to disband units with personal loyalties
- Added modifier 'monthly_character_fam_prestige'
- Fixed some problems with date checking triggers
- Fixed a bug with colonizable provinces being shown in the Decision alert
- Support for true dynamic naming of countries (also fixes barbarian "name jumping" bug)
- 'name' and 'adjective' can be used in country history scripts
- Annexation of two province states allowed
- Rebels can now declare independence
- Fixed a bug in the 'family' effect
- Fixed a bug with the South Levantine barbarian name tags

I'd love to see an implementation of the annexation of capital rules from eu3. It just doesn't make sense that an isolated mass of germanic states would still swear alligiance to rome when chartage controlls all land around both them and the city of Rome itself. The capital should under these circumstances be annexable (as in eu3).
Either that or some massive disloyalty modifier for the isolated governors in the north...

Any chance of explaining what these two mean, they sound interesting ?

Also any chance of "opening" up the modding of units, ie, being able to add extra ships and land units beyond vanilla ?

Countries can change name during a game, or when starting a game at a different point in history. I could add event effects to do this as well, and even the possibility to edit the name yourself in-game, though that would probably be going too far.

As for opening up the modding of units... not in this patch.

Will it be reverse compatible with the base 2.2? I just picked the game up - but I'm holding off actually starting it for fear that the patch will annihilate my progress.
