Patch 2.2 breaks game.

Hello,

Got my game updated to 2.2 through steam, and now:

- It broke my saved games, by changing the rules about economics, demesnes and so...
- It caused the game to CTD, which never happened before to me playing a Paradox game. Bad omen.

I run Windows 8 on a X64 based processor, 8G RAM, Graphic Card NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M, DirectX version 11.

Is there a way to revert to a previous version?.

Hi Badpenny,

The developers are working on a beta branch that you can enable in Steam in order to revert back to the previous patch as normally is done with patches. This should enable you to continue the current savegame.

As for the crashes, these are likely caused by enabling incompatible DLC with the latest patch. Disable these mods in order to play the game until the mods are updated.

Will this new beta option be available soon? Atm I see 2.04 as the last beta option under steam. My game broke and my norse pagan specific CBs are just gone for some reason. This is kind of game breaking.

If I am correct it'll be ready tomorrow. Unfortunately it was not possible to get ready tonight anymore due to technical issues.

That is good to hear. I was pretty upset when I found out my conquest CB and subjugation CB were gone. At least I'll be able to play tomorrow.

As for the crash, I don't have any mods, just the officials Paradox DLC's.
I can't find a link to the mentioned fork, would you be so kind to provide one?.

as in the (old) picture below, right click ck2 in steam library, click 'Properties', go to 'Betas' tab, choose the version you want and Steam will download the version.
No code required.

Well, I reverted to 2.1.6 version, but the game is still crashing after a while. If there's some logs or files I could provide for you to inspect please say so... It's very sad not being able to play CKII anymore.

If you play on 2.1.6, don't forget to uncheck the new DLCs. So no Charlemagne, nor the two new clothing packs or the Charlemagne Shields.

...and you better don't load a save file in 2.1.6 that you might have saved under 2.2. If that's the case.

It's not the case. And I don't have any of the Charlemagne stuff. I noticed the crashes occuring when I click on the button up screen where... you set for tournaments, summer fairs or call for new courtiers, etc. Twice, at least. I think the name of the option is Decisions, but I'm not actually sure.

Did you wait for Steam to download the files properly ?
Check the Checksum, it should be TTXL (main menu bottom left, assuming Steam downloads the old launcher).
Does it only crash on that save file ? Did you try to start a new campaign in 2.1.6 ?

Yes, the download finished properly. Checksum is TTXL. It does crash on a new campaign too. It's not only the Decisions button, any upper button clicked and CTD.

Err..i can only suggest to delete your ck2 folder in C:\Users\<Name>\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II.
Remember to move your save files and whatever is of value to you out of it before.

As soon as you start Ck2 from your Steam library again (please do so and be online), the folder should be recreated. Then move your saves folder and whatever else back in again.
Then see it it works with a new campaign first.
That's all i can think about now.
