People like TheMeInTeam always, always come here to complain and moan about every change. They want the unrealistic world conquest with Mali and if you don't let him do it then the game sucks. It's boring to have to read post after post from people like that.

Referring to the thread title - I'd hardly call this the best patch by far. It is too controversial and too buggy for that.

There is much to like about the patch, its just let down by those two factors:

- Truce timers - I like that they are staggered now, and that annul treaties is 10 years. Good for breaking up perma-alliances. Enough has been said on the 15 years.
- I like the new Poland flavour and Elective Monarchy. Don't much like the constant low legitmacy and constant rebelliousness after becoming the Commonwealth. This needs some fixing.
Religious ideas looks mandatory for integrating all those orthodox provinces and stamping out rebelliousness.
- Merchant Republic becoming Dictatorship. Good flavour. Was worried that you couldn't become Emperor but apparently if RT is below 50 on death of Dictator you become a Monarchy enabling the old gameplay. So this just makes the transition more flavourful. I like it. Gives your Dictator an incentive to vassalize those Electors while waiting to become a Monarchy.
- Buildings getting boosted. Big thumbs up and helps to stem ship spam for traders. Needs more of this.
- Rival system and Power Projection are now buggy and/or broken. Please fix. Can't maintain PP above 50 any more. Rivals keep becoming invalid - yet I can reselect them and they become invalid the very next turn. Buggy.

So all in all, some good, some bad and some ugly. A mixed bag patch. Definitely we need 1.7.1 asap.

If they want to make a small nation a world power then mod the game and stop crying.

In that case, could you explain why there is an achievement for world conquest as Ryukyu? As Mali it should be a lot easier compared to that. But i doubt its still actually possible (not that i care all that much about achievement myself, i dont play ironman, have 0 achievements), but if there is an achievement, it should still be possible. I doubt it still is since just taking over Ming will take a lot longer for example. There's a difference between unrealistic and unrealistic but advertised as a valid gameplay. A lot of people just now think the change has made their advertised game unrealistic compared to what they bought (3x max trucetimer changes are not a small difference compared to the start of the game.)

Your comment that they should mod the game to make a small nation a world power therefor means that they shouldn't play the game they where promised and played for a year or longer.

Or well, that's how i see it anyway.

I also like the patch, but I have the feeling of always waiting for a hotfix on every patch. ( I started to play yesterday a new Iron Man mode. But when I load the game now I havent got Nf and I cant set one new, for example (its already reported)). And many other little buggers.

I like the new patch, and I can say I'm enjoying my games.

That said, there are a couple of things that really need to be fixed - mostly the PP and perhaps even the rivalry system. It's really hard to get 50~ PP, and when you do, those rivals will soon be uneligable and you'll need to pick a new one and "focus" on getting them down.
In my current TO -> Prussia game I had to change rivals about 6 times, but I actually only completely destroyed one of them.

The implication that WC is not possible in this patch is very wrong. People are complaining because the game is SLOWER not HARDER, and more BORING not INTERESTING.

Well, initial observations suggest that the patch continues the trend of encouraging playing as majors. So he probably is playing it the way the devs intend.

Paradox should delete that one or add posibility to gain it.
They already said that they expext 0,1% of players to get it.

The implication that WC is not possible in this patch is very wrong. People are complaining because the game is SLOWER not HARDER, and more BORING not INTERESTING.

Man EVERY WC becomes boring eventually. Don´t talk like a France that got all of Europe in other patches would be more interesting to play and finish the WC, because it wouldn´t. It would still be a grindfest.

the funny thing about all the people complaing about 15 year truces for 100% warscore is that if that mechanic was there from the start of the game and then reduced to always 5 year truces people would just complain it would be to easy for countries to blob.

It wouldn't be more interesting (situationally; it's not so much about things providing a challenge in that context but the game doing oddball things and the annexation of things in different orders), but at least it'd be over faster instead of slowed down by hamfisted magic timers.

I like the new patch, and I can say I'm enjoying my games.

That said, there are a couple of things that really need to be fixed - mostly the PP and perhaps even the rivalry system. It's really hard to get 50~ PP, and when you do, those rivals will soon be uneligable and you'll need to pick a new one and "focus" on getting them down.
In my current TO -> Prussia game I had to change rivals about 6 times, but I actually only completely destroyed one of them.

Yeah, but on the other hand having 100 PP was just to easy before. The natural state of the game shouldn't be constantly above 50 PP. It should be a struggle to get there and stay there. At least that's how I feel.

It wouldn't be more interesting (situationally; it's not so much about things providing a challenge in that context but the game doing oddball things and the annexation of things in different orders), but at least it'd be over faster instead of slowed down by hamfisted magic timers.

While it IS hamfisted, the reason it exists as a rigid number is, again, consequence of the huge number of playable entities. If we had like, 50 playable nations and all the others were CIV 5 style minors, complex diplomatic interactions and other stuff would be WAY easier to do. As the game stands, it´s simply darn impossible to make countries negotiate timed truces.

I for one wouldn´t mind in the slightest not being able to play Ulm if I got more and deeper stuff, but not everyone will agree. Finally, if people had more stuff to do at peace, fighting wars all the time would be less important.

Man EVERY WC becomes boring eventually. Don´t talk like a France that got all of Europe in other patches would be more interesting to play and finish the WC, because it wouldn´t. It would still be a grindfest.

Seems like to me I explicitly said the game would be MORE, not as an addition. I would prefer if you read what I say properly before saying I'm implying things I'm not. If it takes twice as long it's going to be twice as boring (more really since if you rush you at least have a chance of messing up at the start).

Also with the call to peace changes, when your allies get stuck in a war they refuse to ever end (say they declared for a province which is now not held by either nation (I've done that to the AI accidentally too many times (France and Portugal fight over a random Indian province for 50 years that neither of them own any more))), everyone else suffers, and you can abuse this with your own alliances partners if you're planning on doing something that wipes your WE.

That is irrelevant. If WC is boring, then focus on making the game interesting by making OTHER goals than WC more interesting. If the ONLY accomplishment you can have is a WC then the game WILL be boring as WC are always grindfests, and that´s regardless of game. The only difference, as yourself admited, is that you can make it take longer or be faster.

What you write makes sense for a *single player* game, but you see EUIV is a multiplayer game.

Just no one plays that version because it hardly works and for a number of other less ironic reasons.

But the developer insists it is a multiplayer game. The single player is just a "practice mode" for multiplayer.
