maybe a setting you can change in file with editor?

I know they chganged it so that allies won't set you as rival *ever* if you keep +100 opinion with them.

If its lower, they might as you grow more powerful.

You know that currently AI sux, yes? Maybe its time to do sth about it...

The AI improved a lot since the game was released and it's vastly superior if you compare it with the early PDS titles like EUII or HOI where the AI just "fell asleep" after some month.

Sure, the AI is far from perfect and once you've learned the tricks it's rather easy to abuse her behaviour, but until you come up with a superior one I'd be a little careful with stuff like that...

You know that it's an exceptionally complex task to have several hundred entities interact in an intelligent yet still fun way, yes? Each change in the AI's thought process may cascade through the gameplay tens of thousands of times. Obvious improvements may not be obvious to actually implement. Think of all the thoughts you have and decision you make in a year of gameplay. Ok, now go code a bot to consider all those things and not seem awful at the game.

So yeah maybe stop being a jerk have some appreciation of the complexity of what is trying to be modeled.

Not to mention the "can't make it toooooo smart" aspect of the job since a smart ai would day 1 crush the player as the biggest threat, etc. which would trigger howls of outrage rather than proper appreciation of a smart ai...
