no more US superstack in 1.4! The AI helping each other and me is great. Hungary send their troops to help me as Germany attacking France and UK send their to help France. Sweden helped to defend Denmark...etc. Much better now. thx paradox.

Are you sure? The US is doing nothing in my games but stockpiling. The do not make a 6000 brigades stack in Washington but 30 stacks of 200 brigades all over the country. They rarely attack the Nazis in Europe and they let Japan grab some islands in the Pacific witout responding.

Yes, we have a lot of changes, and will give you details on that during next week.

During next week's details, will you address if the new AI fixes that improve coordination between allies will also fix the occasional tendancy for the AI to 'over-react' to small invasions or partisian uprisings (for instance, when the German AI redirects 2/3rds of the Wehrmacht fighiting in the Ukraine during Barbarosa to attack a single partisian division in Southern Poland, or when the USSR border is completely unmanned because of British troops manning an easily-defendable crossing at Cherbourg)?

What i'm getting at is, will it now possible for the AI to properly weigh a threat and respond with an 'appropiate' (for lack of a better word) or properly-sized response?

Japan crushes China in 1.4. War is over very quick in Japan's favour.

Still no Pacific war though as Japan rolls through China and USA still sits and does nothing.

This really needs to be re-addressed before v1.4's release. In the '36 and '38 campaigns, on their own, the China's should be able to hold out until '42 at the latest. In the later campaigns they should be able to hold out indefinately with the support of the US and Allies.
I think maybe an event needs to be written to simulate the deteriorating relations between Japan and the US/Allies which results in the US embargo and then later the Japanese declaration of war, whether they attack Hawaii or not. This should also result in the US Joining the Allies and Declaring war on the Axis if they haven't already. Is it really that hard to write & test a few simple events/decisions to get this to occur? I think not.

I guess the US just doesn't know how to handle it's forces. It's dissapointing when your only option is to load up as the US to expedition some of it's forces to different allies whille sending other land/air/sea units into threatened allied territory and hope they'll stay there

+10, It would be so nice to see only two divisions responding to a single partisan division, instead of seeing an entire armygroup and it's airforces strat re-deployed to attack the same.

My game as US in 1941 jan.

I am in north africa out of supllyes becouse I get it from capetown! after I have liberated the alexandria port. I checked South Africa and UK what was wrong.
South Africa is just far away delivering supplies trought dessert. So I get 1-2 % mabye. Uk on other hand is delivering supplies but is not affected in my game, says I gat it from cape town still. This I have adressed in the "supply thread"

But then I see another issue: That South africa have litle tech that well not su big suprice, but UK... They are good on navel tech but land tech, is non existing. 1936 light tank and inf. No land tech/doctrine at all.

question:

has some mechanic been added to 1.4 so that the AI dosnt, eg as SU, simultaniously build a crapton of inf divisions and run itself down to zero manpower?

AI needs to be aware that it needs to not spend below X manpower, where X is a number defined by the quantity of manpower the AI already has invested in divisions. ie, it will 'reserve' more manpower the greater number of divisions it has, and when it has below X it will cease adding divisions to the build que, and pause any that are causing it to remain below the minimum.

this would be a GODSEND for SU ai

The AI still sucks big time in 1.4b. Try harder.

Exactly. I think the words we're looking for here are 'proportionality' or 'measured response.' Somehow the AI needs to understand the concept of 'minor' threats and made to respond accordingly.

I still saw some of the same problems with the strategic AI in 1.4 as before.

The UK AI is still not very adept at defending Africa and the Middle East. Italy easily conquered it all, and Malta.

The US AI still seems absent, no US units appeared in Europe or Africa.

The German AI never attacked in the West, no Fall Gelb, after Poland and Scandinavia. Also it did not attack in the East. SU declared war on Germany in late september 1942 and overran the Germans easily, taking Berlin two months later.

The Japanese AI did nothing after it was kicked out of Asia by the Soviets (after NatChi alligned with Comintern). It just sat on the Home Islands.

So I would like a more active AI, that actually does invasions and landings.

Having the support of a friendly ai nation is a great improvement-well worth the wait.

This has happened before with puppets and it brought player's operations to a grinding halt due to exhaustion of supplies. Now there will be even bigger problem with allies swamping the overburdened supply chain, just as they did before with their airforce (landing planes in forward territories your troops have captured and draining their stockpiles of supplies). Until there is some way to restrict AI from sending their units to specified areas of the map the AI should be less "supportive".

I don't see how this change for the worse could be considered an improvement, let alone a great one

Problem regarding the Japan , China War

almost every single game i play, i see Nationalist China ownning Japan if i start from 1936...... that.... is not suppose to happen! (Personally i am chinese but i respect the history.....)

I wonder if there is anything anyone can do to balance out the Japanese Invasion.... maybe more troops? or better generals?
