Unplayable would mean to many people that the game crashes often, broken systems that do not function or very poorly if at all, etc. There have been many games (unfortunately) that have been relesed in that state.(Even worse, I have bought a few, lol). HoI3 did not fall into that group.
You're giving a very narrow view of what "unplayable" means. I'm of the opinion that HoI3 fit into that description just fine. I wanted to play the game, but it hasn't performed well enough on multiple levels, so it was unplayable for me. Semantics. For actual people it tends to have the same meaning.

Paradox is working on it and many things will be fixed no doubt. They will then (probably) charge for some sizable things in an expansion. It's common for developers to do this nowadays, even though I find it to be an annoying way to do business.

I just do not want people that have not tried the game yet to think it is totally broken versus not being fun for some. Not playable versus not being fun are two totally different game states.
Regarding the last sentence there..., I'm just going to do this smiley:

Anyhow, game's in longterm storage since 1.3. It would be nice if it would change soon™.

Now, if it also fixes the 1.3 problem with "glass" AA that's failing to defend the cities from bombers and getting destroyed almost instantly in the process, and fixes the "lost orders glitch" that prevents Interceptors from intercepting those bombers, then at least the game should be "playable", in my opinion.

Is this promised to be fixed? My AA get bombed to pieces every day and can only hope for bad weather for protection. Interceptors typically only chases the strategic bombers away.

While paratroop supply needs to be less on drops, it should be as normal infantry once back in supply.
They should have a supply impact on any defenders in the hex they are dropped into to reflect interdiction of rear areas.
Provincial AA should have critical effect. American D-Day drops were scattered by AA effects and German transports dropping on Crete suffered heavy losses.
Perhaps rather than calculating all the AI and player factors in a dynamic fashion the easy way to handle it is on a paradrop:
90% Good Drop (slight loss of org and str)
5% Bad Drop (medium loss to org and str)
5% Terrible Drop (large loss to org and str)

defending AA/terrain/weather/number of defenders/training and doctrine/time of drop modify the results with a simple +/- effect.

I hope you are working on wierd supply issues for MP games that simply make game unplayable. It's an unusual bug that isn't consistent, some have said it's when u get so many units it starts to happen, even though you have pleanty of supply production. BTW, how does "running a debt" work with nations, do u need to run outta money 1st then u still get whats contracted with loaning nation?

Excellent points! I would add that the org levels should be pretty heavily hit regardless of drop quality as paratroopers weren't intended to land on top of combat ready formations and, even with light resistance, took a week or more to regain full organization.

I believe so although it only happened to me once in the countries I play... I'm not sure how that impacts other trades. For example, say the UK gets debt allowed by the US. Regardless of the UK's financial situation, they can still receive resources from the US. However, once the money has been run down, I'm assuming that any trade with another country would be cancelled due to lack of funds.

If this is true, I guess the player should make sure the debt offering country has everything needed!

Please fix or adjust the AI so it attacks provinces with a fort in them. Too often the AI will refuse to attack as it thinks it's useless to do so. But in many situations the attacks are successful if given enough time to wear down the org of the defender.

I'm a fan of more frequent and smaller patches vs waiting longer for larger monolithic patches and feature updates** - but my voice is small here.

In any case, please work closely with Valve to ensure they've got the correct files this time and that the end result is that a Steam installed version of the game is the same as the 'regular' version, aside from the (obvious) Steam wrapper executable and modified installation path.

** More correctly, I prefer fast patch cycles during that unstable period after release or major feature updates, and then move towards longer/larger updates once core features are stable.

I think I speak for any sane Paradox customer when I say, "Take your time and get it right". Like most of your customers I bought this game based on your company's proven dedication to your products historically. Unlike most games nowadays the lifetime of a Paradox game is measured in years of playability, not just a few weeks or months after it's "beaten". When I purchased this game I invested in what I knew you would make it become not necessarily what it was at release. Because, I know you will fix everything that's broken and expand the game to new heights I can be very patient. Other companies that don't back up their products with that sort of long-term dedication and support that Paradox demonstrates do not deserve or get that sort of patience when releasing initially flawed products...

Your dedication to your products is deeply appreciated and is a model that other game designers should be emulating. Paradox will always get my money, keep the great games coming.

+4 for taking your time!!! Finish what you have already said that you you want to get done for 1.4, and do it well! Run the open Beta until the game is stable, more efficient, and much more fun! You guys are doing an amazing job so far! Keep up the good work! Make 1.4 the last patch till the expansion!! Then make an amazing expansion to make HOI3 the game it was meant to be! You are definitely on track to making HOI3 the best game ever, It just needs a little work!
