Then it no longer belongs to you, so no freebie. You are taking land that you have previously admitted is not yours.

Its not about that, it is about the 'free claims' you get whenever forming a certain country.
The way AE works + OE + lack of admin power for coring, you often are unable to get all the provinces on time.
The fact that they are not cores is already harsh enough, but this way at least you will be able to get provinces later, core them easier, and all with legitimate reasons namely them belonging to your primary accepted culture group.

All buildings except uniques and forts got destroyed in EU3 too. You're misremembering.
Yeah, you're right. I'm still right in the case of forts, though; why the hell did they change that part? It doesn't make a lick of sense for the foritifications to be destroyed upon annexing the province, whether after a war or through diplo-annexing.

The game adopted a set of scaling that work well in the early game and break in the late game. I can see why you want coring to be slower for a large empire - but are you honestly defending 20 years of overextension to core a single province for nations that are at their historical size? It's one thing to have an actual challenge - e.g if you want that little nation you have to fight their buddies. It's different if you succeed in a difficult task and the game doesn't let you achieve your goals, at all (e.g. you conquer France and Serbia and find out that you can't request any Serbian provinces in a peace deal.)

It's not as if the game gives you anything else to do as a goal in the mid or late game, and furthermore growth is natural and encouraged in the early game. It's more like "we used to reward you for doing this, and there isn't anything else around that you can do, but once you're large enough we want the game to be slow and frustrating." Tedium and frustration are not good balancers.

No the OE that's being fixed was not something I meant to defend. I thought I was talking about coalitions and defending them.

You mean the one and only bug you didn't manage to exploit? According to Johan, it will not be fixed. Ever. Also, he told everyone to blame you for that.

On another note, is this patch going to do anything regarding the massive OE that an Ottoman player would get from making use of the cb_annex granted by flavor_mam.22.d event to annex the Mamluks in one full swoop to emulate the real-life history of that conflict? (It's in the flavorMAM events file)

Under dire circumstances. It is still part of De Jure Poland, no?
Not anymore. Part of the peace deal was accepting that it was not part of de jure Poland anymore.

As of the current release, forts do not get destroyed.
Which is part of why fort levels skyrocket almost immediately and all other building levels wind up low, meaning that it takes forever to siege provinces that have no appreciable development.

Its not about that, it is about the 'free claims' you get whenever forming a certain country.
The way AE works + OE + lack of admin power for coring, you often are unable to get all the provinces on time.

No, this was about cores. What we need, however, is a different, longer lasting kind of claim that you get when forming a country. And maybe a "unify nation" CB that gives reduced AE on taking these lands that you claim to be a rightful part of Germany/Russia/Hindustan/whatever by right of being that country rather than because of border disputes or familial claims on land on the part of your king.

I sure hope so. Because as it seems you do, I also play mostly Ottoman Empire and the mechanics make it grind to a halt. You cannot relive the historical progress because of the broken OE system.

This is probably a really noob question, but anyways: if I'm playing as a "generic" NI country, get the patch with the new unique NIs for that country... will my game automatically give me the ideas or will I need to restart the game to get that?

I'm playing Granada quite successfully with 12 or 13 provinces under my control (and no colonization; I want to be a Mediterranean power) but that took a long time a lot of which was spent staring at the screen figuring out what to do next.. I don't know the past patching history of PDS so it just made me slightly worrisome.

You should get the ideas. I've certainly done it to in-progress games exported from CK II.

It'd make a lot of sense though if forts had a chance to be degraded whenever the province is occupied, perhaps linked to the 'walls breached' siege roll somehow.

Wow I was just thinking the other that coring times percentage increase on empire size should slowly decrease over time to 0 in later game. Also that when taking provinces only the top level buildings should be destroyed. Both are in 1.2.

Looking forward to it!

Will we be able to vassilise people called in to alliances/coalitions? Pretty strange when you can fully annex a lesser alliance member via separate peace but not vassilise them.

Apparently you can if you score 100% warscore against them. I think someone in another thread made that claim.

Apparently you can if you score 100% warscore against them. I think someone in another thread made that claim.

I think this only applies to the wargoal target. For instance:
i) I declare war on A.
ii) A calls in big brother B who becomes the alliance leader.
iii) I now have to fully occupy A to bring up the option to vassalize A, rather than just B.
