Just came back to HOI2 as I've found Rome a bit of a bore. Down loaded 1.2 and have been enjoying the game again....BUT!! I can't believe that the Nuc Air Carrier has not been fixed YET!! The modern Carrier can still tavel 8000 miles and the Nuc one only 4500 mile??? Will this ever get fixed??

IIRC this bug is related to the order in which you research the techs. Did you first research modern carriers and then the nuclear ones? In that case the former would have the stats from a nuclear carrier, while the latter is stuck with the modern stats. If you'd first research nuclear carriers and then the modern ones, the stats wouldn't be switched.


Not that this changes the fact that it's a pretty annoying bug, though.

So, in my case with this game I'm playing, there is really no point in building the nuc carriers then.... just the modern ones, right.... he asked knowingly.

Yes, in the games options there should be a "Tech Team Takeover"
How can I upgrade units that I purchase from other nations?
For land units, just strategically redeploy them. For Air units, it is much harder, try putting them in a stack with Rockets (V1/V2) and redeploying them, it might work but I've never tried. Naval units can't upgrade except for brigades. You can also edit the savegame to remove the country tag for that division to allow it to upgrade.

Correct. Normally you get 20-35% of conquered/annexed IC depending on your ministers. With full IC Takeover you get 100% (but not 100% of the resources...)

Sweet 100%. One thing I wish I could see again was the relative ease of upgrading and training new units. And reinforcing existing ones.

Alot of patches complicate themselves.. :mad:

install the latest milestone?

I've just downloaded from scratch the Armageddon download from Gamersgate and everytime I launch the app I get a "install the latest milestone" warning and a crash. I am running this on a vista 64 box so perhaps its incompatable?

Weird since DD was fine, broke with Armageddon??? :eek:

You need to download the files directly into the Doomsday folder....

Another possible bug in an event. I had overrun Italy reducing Il Duce to a strip of the adriadic coast and an occupied Greece. Then I overran Germany ending up at around the pre-war Polish border and into Hungary, and pre-war Denmark, Chechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The Germany surrenders event fires and western Europe is redrawn. This gives France back France (less Vichy as it still exists), Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Luxumberg and FDR forms. The problem lies in that:

1. A part of Germany, nominally what would be East Germany (DDR) remains as US territory included in this was the area of Chechoslovakia.

2. Italy is reformed but as Italy (Fascist) still exists they get the un-occupied territory back. Italy becomes the leader of the Axis as well remaining at war and with control over any ungarrisioned province. This part of the event cost me a fair chunck of my airforce or at least that is my best explaination for what happened to my strat and tac bomber groups. This problem with Italy is where I think there is buggy behavior occuring but I'm not sure what is supposed to happen.

3. Checkoslovakia did not reform but that might not be a bug. Once I had conquored all pre-war territory I was able to release it as a puppet.

4. Afterwards when I had annexed Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania I could only release Italy, Hungary and Bulgaria as the game would not allow me to release as a puppet Romania. This might be due to the various bits of Romania gobbled up by Russia, Hungary and Bulgaria.

5. Skopje became part of Greece when I released Greece as a puppet after annexing Italy. This is odd as it is not orginally Greek territory.

6. There was a lot of confusion with the SR from the various territories. Some of the units didn't...I ended up with one infantry division that I had to deploy in the province it had been before the event and the same was true of some tac bombers. Sardinia also switched over to French control though my garrison division remained there.

I hope this is clear if not I can try and answer specific questions, unfortunately the event fires and is over rather quickly so tracking what happened is a bit of forensic work. I also am not sure how much is just oddities caused by the in game situation and how much is buggy behavior.

I did personally experienced them many times in my hands-off games (most irritating for me is that Italy gets all ungarrisoned territory back from US), but still hadn't time to investigate these events for errors. Gormadoc is very busy too, so we'll highly appreciate if someone of you have a working solution/workaround for these problems or want to research and share it here.
Another problem I saw in my games is that in case US occupy Germany(including Berlin) while Germany still holds huge territories in USSR (once it was on Ural and in Persia) and has many divisions left capitulation event can fire and in this case Germany capitulates to USSR not to USA. All German territory in USSR except that which has troops from German allies is given back to USSR left these troops surrounded by empty USSR provinces deeply in USSR. Very weird :D
May be all AI controlled minors allied to Germany should capitulate too when Germany does so. Not sure about Italy. Japan should continue the fight with its puppets.

3 to 6 are not bugs IMO, or at least that is how I understand them.

In this case I had the situation you describe I had overrun Germany basically to the old pre-war polish border, the front line for the German-Russian conflict was starting in rostok running NE towards the northern Urals. Germany had over run Moscow and Archangel and was pressing in on Stalingrad but the soviets still held some of the territory east of Kharkov.

A short time after the germany surrenders event fired the entirity of all that territory returned to russian control and then Poland reformed (less a few provinces that the USA controlled). I saw a message "The Soviet Union has Annexed Germany" if I am not mistaken. What happened to any minor axis allies divisions I don't know.

I would need to look but I am sure I have save game files from before and after the event if that helps any.

The big thing I noticed about Italy with regards to the event is that before it fired when I looked under liberate nation I saw "Italian Socialist Republic" or something close to that and after the event I had just "Italy."

I'm not sure I understand why Greece getting Skopje (which was Yugoslavian pre war) is not a bug though? I can understand them picking up the Italian agean islands but not that particular province at all.

What I could not understand is that I had overrun Italy, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria but I could not get them to accept puppet status from the diplomacy menu (war score +100%) and eventually just annexed and later released Italy, Hungary and Bulgaria.

That is because Greece has claims on that province (it is in its "extra" provinces list)

This is probably because of AI preferences. Sometimes they just don't accept to become puppets.

The provinces Skopje and Stip, which are roughly where today's Macedonia is, is one of the regions that was hotly contested by the new Balkan states in the pre-WWI era. Albania, Yugoslavia, Greece and Bulgaria should all have a cores there. I think this is the way it is, and this is historically and politically accurate.
