I think its supposed to be like this so that nations dont industrialize too fast and to make sure that only prestigeful nations get all the paper in the beginning.

This is just my personal wish list, others may disagree with me.

*Tweek the conditions for atheist and secularized issues. I find it improbable that in the US 'Bible Belt' atheism dominates 78% of state issues. (I have 100% supply for all goods and low taxes)

*Make the recruiting window easier to find. IE make it look like an actual button.

*Include a tutorial for the poor newbies who pick up this game.

*Allow for a greater range of game settings so people with slower comps can run the game without a hitch (I have a P4 1.82 GHz proccessor and 256 MB of RAM and its STILL slow)

*Include more great songs. (EU2 had 53 songs, Victoria has 38)

*A window that has a list of free POPs for each state so you know when to upgrade or build new factories without having to click on each state.

1) When you try to split an army in an unoccupied enemy controlled province it will give you the army destroyed msg. I assume that you cannot create new units from a group that is busy trying to takeover a province but this is definetly the wrong msg to see. An information msg would be much nicer, reminding you that you can't do that!:)

2) Feature request. A list of your RGO's, i.e i have 10 province 5 have cotton, 5 tobacco, a list showing these more "singular" numbers would be very helpfull in conjunction with the production screen.

3) Feature request. A filterable economic map. i.e. a dropdown listing all resources, I can select, for instance, fruit from this drop-down and all provinces with fruit in thembecome colored / all other provinces stay white, if there is a factory in a province that uses that resource it would be colored a different color in this view. Also a third color for provinces that contain a resource and a factory that use it.

4) Feature request. An "all factory view". Maybe this is found somewhere but I am lost to find it yet. It would also be nice if the production numbers for the ingredient resources and the "pure province RGO count" of resources was handy next to each factory in this view.

5) A better system for reassigning leaders. I hate having to have another general to assign to an army in order to move a leader, or play around with creating and merging units. I am not sure how to accomplish this and retain realistic gameplay but the current system seems unreal as well.

Well thats about all i can think of right now:)

I second a previous person's recommendation that the prestige hit from a humiliating loss is weakened - or at least capped at zero.

In two games, France lost two wars to Germany and their prestige was ranked 219th in the world. This led to their inability to purchase products, which meant industrializing with money that they didn't have, putting them into debt, reducing their investment in technology, putting them even further behind relative to other countries, to the point that France is 113th in the world standing list in 1893.

I went into the save file and put their prestige to 0 and they were ranked 15th in the world. I thought this was far more reasonable.

options to disable selling technomogies

Looks like, according to feedback (damn Amazon, still don't deliver..) a great strategy is having a small power get a start off by selling technologies to let's say China, turning it to potential superpower

while Japan got it from Britain, Germany, France, as well as colony trading occured between USA and Russia (Alaska, a bargain, like Luisiana), I don't have many other cases recorded

It seems to me it leads to very un historical results...for game system, generalist I guess, hardly can take cultural impossibilities easily into account

The 8 historical great powers were uncontestably UK, Germany (former Prussia) , France, Russia, Austria-Hungary (ex Austria, de facto German Satelite mostly due to Panslavist threat) and USA (more and more unavoidable due to huge (1st world) economy making good for remoteness and small politics involvment, plus 3d world navy at the end) then Japan (clearly, then had beaten Russians) and Italy after unity - while sometimes contested for the later ones

that is how most games should be - with different orders pperhaps..(and OK, sometimes an outsider)

ALL others, would it be huge and populous China (while one of the oldest great civilizations, was a carved colonial piece of cake at the times, sorry, that only American intervention prevented from total collapse, Chinese awakening dated back to Sun Yat Sen and was provoked by its very humiliation and unequal treaties - not a unique case in history where a disaster provokes a drastical needed change), once feared Ottoman Empire ("the sick man of Europe" survived as a counterweight thanks to Foreign (British, Austrian, german) help to prevent Russia to get warm waters access and prevent chaos - reformation dates back to Ataturk) , less even smaller powers (would it be Belgians with heavy industry or Congo, Sweden, Holland with Indonesia, Spain, Portugal would even have had a chance to even survive, lest even match a "Great power" of the time, were not the general balance of power and the fact that IRL Great Powers didn't grab "anything in range they were able too.."

I look forward Victoria as a great game, but am very demanding in historicity. disabling at will trade tech - avoiding such ahistorical unbalancing ("build in legal exploit"), both for player and AI, (while keeping the possibility open for more all-should-be possible adepts) would not solve all problems, but go a long way towards it

(as in EU I am regulary p..pff by Parma or Wurtemberg sending traders, sometimes colonists at the very end of the world cause AI found expedient to "exchange discoveries" - Wurtemberg has nothing to do in Java CoT, lol - same problem ;) )

greetings to all

Well, its by province rather than state but page 10 of the ledger does have an "unassigned" column that you can sort the display by by clicking on its header.

Minor item, but I'd like a number in a tooltip on the province life rating display please.

Tweaks

Tweak AI to limit the US/Russian external colonisation.
Both had big backyards to attend to, and consequently
devoted their time and resources to that.

Also, there needs to be a hard-coded Russian sale
of Alaska to the US in 1867, or at least the option.
"Seward's Icebox" or something like that.

A-H is too strong, and too stable.

Colonial controls:

There needs to be a more severe attrition penalty in underdeveloped areas.

Severe attrition to cavalry in central Africa.

There should be a cap on rail development on a province without statehood.

I've described these controls in my "Tse-tse-less" thread linked below.

Make the POPS die

Please change it somehow so the pops actually die in combat. I was Belgium (about 10 million people) and I won against Germany (about 70 million people) because I outlasted them....

It would also be nice to have 2 manpower pools. One for national manpower and one for colonial. If you want colonial troops in ww1 you can just build them and ship them to europe.

thx :)

add IF possible (is it ?) minorities culture recruitment (WITH COMING PENALTIES) incentive - is needed for Austrian accuracy and would help balance - see minority thread

does Japan needs some beef up ? AI Japan never seems to fare well in AAR games - (saw Russia evoked too) some balancing should perhaps be done so the USUAL game great powers would be the RL great powers - a hands off game at least should give that 95% of time.

- Reasons for revoltrisk (roll down window)
- Reasons for life sustainability in any province
- Multicountry alliances (Entente and "Central Powers" during WWI)

- Some more variable to calculate the war score

And then a question: why I can't improve relations by more then 10 each time?

You can, but it varies just how often you manage to make a greater impression on other countries. Don't know what decides how much, tho'.

A confirm button when selecting R&D. Even nicer would be the ability to pause, select and consider a tech and then unselect it in favor of another.
