options to disable selling technomogies
Looks like, according to feedback (damn Amazon, still don't deliver..) a great strategy is having a small power get a start off by selling technologies to let's say China, turning it to potential superpower
while Japan got it from Britain, Germany, France, as well as colony trading occured between USA and Russia (Alaska, a bargain, like Luisiana), I don't have many other cases recorded
It seems to me it leads to very un historical results...for game system, generalist I guess, hardly can take cultural impossibilities easily into account
The 8 historical great powers were uncontestably UK, Germany (former Prussia) , France, Russia, Austria-Hungary (ex Austria, de facto German Satelite mostly due to Panslavist threat) and USA (more and more unavoidable due to huge (1st world) economy making good for remoteness and small politics involvment, plus 3d world navy at the end) then Japan (clearly, then had beaten Russians) and Italy after unity - while sometimes contested for the later ones
that is how most games should be - with different orders pperhaps..(and OK, sometimes an outsider)
ALL others, would it be huge and populous China (while one of the oldest great civilizations, was a carved colonial piece of cake at the times, sorry, that only American intervention prevented from total collapse, Chinese awakening dated back to Sun Yat Sen and was provoked by its very humiliation and unequal treaties - not a unique case in history where a disaster provokes a drastical needed change), once feared Ottoman Empire ("the sick man of Europe" survived as a counterweight thanks to Foreign (British, Austrian, german) help to prevent Russia to get warm waters access and prevent chaos - reformation dates back to Ataturk) , less even smaller powers (would it be Belgians with heavy industry or Congo, Sweden, Holland with Indonesia, Spain, Portugal would even have had a chance to even survive, lest even match a "Great power" of the time, were not the general balance of power and the fact that IRL Great Powers didn't grab "anything in range they were able too.."
I look forward Victoria as a great game, but am very demanding in historicity. disabling at will trade tech - avoiding such ahistorical unbalancing ("build in legal exploit"), both for player and AI, (while keeping the possibility open for more all-should-be possible adepts) would not solve all problems, but go a long way towards it
(as in EU I am regulary p..pff by Parma or Wurtemberg sending traders, sometimes colonists at the very end of the world cause AI found expedient to "exchange discoveries" - Wurtemberg has nothing to do in Java CoT, lol - same problem

)
greetings to all
