Apologies for a question that must be a dumb one, but this is driving me crazy.

I bought the game a year ago but couldn't really play it before buying a new laptop with better specs. Now I'm getting into it (love the game) and I'm at the point where I want to build my first train stations and a passenger train line. However, I have real trouble figuring out how to make the passenger train line work. There is a track connecting the two stations, but when I try to add a second stop to the train line, the game just says "cannot find path" and the train station where I started the line has this icon on top of it (symbolizing an incomplete route I imagine). I've even created a loop on both ends of the track but still no success but the way I see it, the trains operate like a metro in this game and they just go back and forth using a single track?

Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on? A simple walkthrough on how trains work would be great and I tried googling it, but nobody seems to have this particular problem of getting the trains to work in the first place. So I must be an idiot. Anyway. Any help would be appreciated!

you only need to use shift on the stations with the second/third/fourth etc platforms as that is the way the Multi-Track Station Enabler mod is programmed to select the other platforms.

i usually have one main station which has two platforms, i use one platform to connect to outside traffic (the one furthest from the road connection is the default platform) and the other platform (the one closest to the road which needs to be selected) to connect my internal network. i wouldn't need to press shift on the other stations as these only have one platform.

I think that is what I did last time, but I'll double-check! :)

I had a play around last night with a station with two platforms. i added it to the end of a line that i had running well. basically it was difficult to connect the line to the new station, pressing shift didn't do anything until i positioned the camera in such a way that i could actually see the second railway line in the station. so pressing shift as well as directing the cursor to the second line worked. it seems stations with roofs that cover the line that you want to connect require a bit more effort to connect.

I was having this same problem too and was able to fix it.

What I found is that if your building on to the pre-made track that is already on the map some of the Train Tracks may not be complete and you will have to follow the track to see where the missing pieces are and complete it. This probably something the developers overlooked.

Yeah, I'm the OP and I think this was the problem I had. I relied on the pre-built train tracks for some part of my track system and there were missing pieces there for some reason. I actually forgot to update this post to say that I found the problem, so thanks for this reply and reminder!
