Today in Italy is the Liberation day and my thinking is gone to all the good partisans other then the regular soldiers who took arms against the nazi invaders and the fascist lapdogs...

So i thought to myself... Will HOI4 be able to represent something like the General Insurrection day? Or the dayly ambushes, the battles of entire divisions in mountain areas or the battallions difficult to catch. I've read the resistence dev diary but don't make me satisfied.

For example inside Yugoslavia you have an army of partisans that started to produce his effects from the really start of the occupation making Yugoslavia never a safe place for the fascist and nazist for the whole war. We shall speak also about the battallion/division of Russian Red Partisans in Russia, the Italian Partisans , the France Resistence... All brave women and men that shall be reperesented because they do huge service to the Allies/Comitern, in some cases inside Italy free the towns by themselves, but also in other countries. They were not few, we are talking about hundred of thousands of armed people, or scouts that fought for their country instead to follow the dominant german/italian propaganda to fight for the dictatorship.

I am sure we will see some "Resistance" DLC

I hope it will be present... But i doubt. That would not only add historical justice and accuracy to the game, but it would add interesting game mechanics.

For example i don't know if there will be partisans units in game like in previous games or events like "General insurrection" that take them fired.

I am sure we will see some "Resistance" DLC

It certainly does seem like this would be best done as DLC, mainly because it is good for flavor but is not really a good "core" gameplay system to develop from the start. It would take quite a bit of time to make something like this be balanced and also fun to have in gameplay, after all.

With that being said, it seems like a very interesting concept for what could be added in the future. Interesting in the same sense as it would be for more mechanics to be added to "minor nations" to allow them to stand out better, like more unique trees for their stuff.

"Hide Jew Family in Attick" National Focus for Belgium))

I hope it would be various - from secretly listening BBC for European countries to spawning entire battalions of partisans in woods of Russia.

The devs disliked the whack-a-rebbel system in HoI III tho, so i doubt they will add it. In HoI IV if the unrest is high (and it spreads) they will damage and destroy factories and infrastructure, sabotage the supply lines and give strategic informations to the enemies like troop movement etc. They also increase the divisions attrition aswell.

What you are describing would work better with the included civil war mechanic to be honest. It would be interesting to see how it would turn out if they could add the possibility to trigger a civil war if unrest is very high in the entire occupied country and the resistance would ask the major powers if they would back them, rather than only triggering when a foreign country or yourself are trying to change your ideology.

There hopefully be events like the Warsaw Uprising or something(with a chance of a good outcome), or that you can fund rebels and they can turn into real divisions like you send some volunteer divisions(low chance of them making it to the occupied country, like 50% base, so if there is a large unrest its 60% or something) and then you can click rise up (hour W) and your volunteers and their partisans rise up. and how good the partisans reflect on how well they are equipped, training and other things. So it would be more of a player controlled Spanish Civil War than a whack a mole. Dont know how that would be for the ai, but i think making it like the Spanish civil war is the easiest and best way you can do it.

I dislike the whack-a-rebel system in HOI3. I recall several games really screwed up because the AI managing my front decided to send an entire Theatre of troops to deal with a single militia brigade. I had to roll back to the last auto save.

I hope the HOI4 version is more fun. :)

I'm from Veneto so I would say lets recognize those that fought against the communist insurrectionists that wanted to link arms with Tito. We celebrate the end of the war not the partisans.

Yes I realize the irony of my icon so I will register my stellar is preorder and offer space hugs if I can.

When you think about it, the biggest difference between HOI3 and HOI4 partisans is they just don't show up on the map (they don't take over a province per se). You still have to build a Military Police Force if your going to keep resistance levels manageable and your factories/infrastructure etc. in working order. Just no more massive uprisings behind your lines taking provinces, in HOI3 I normally just create a Theatre Group to manage behind the lines and keep extending it as my army pushes forward so the Garrison Theatre handles the Partisans for me using a Calvary Brigade and a MP brigade.

Which isn't that great, because no few cities in Italy were taken back by partisans. Naples was particularly heroic, but yet again Hitler's orders had a way to motivate their victims. :p
