I am wondering if the rebel non-sense of EU IV is going to be ported to HOI IV. I feel that it already started with TFH with "underground resistance" which is one of the silliest mechanics in-game because I can have Japanese partisans in Germany (etc.) and no matter how many partisans I kill they will always pop up in a matter of weeks (sometimes even days) always ready to be slaughtered. This is a non-sense but the EU IV non-sense that I was talking about is that rebels are currently the nº1 military threat in that game; they don´t obey by any rules (unlimited regiments, manpower, etc.) and are always at least as desciplined and well equipped as your regular army. Even the natives that never seen an artillery piece and horses before will have them by the thousands when they rebel 10 months after they were utterly defeated. What is more weird in all of this is that PDS that does otherwise intelligent and even brilliant games designed this; probably because most people that I see in the forums think that is ok and some actually love it to the point of letting their imagination run wild to try to find some historical basis for the nonsense? So my question is will partisans/rebels in HOI IV spawn with heavy armor and mechanized infantry because people might think it is cool?

Hopefully not, but I could see rebels spawning with only a limited amount of equipment and since vehicles like tanks and planes are made individually, it would be cool to see them spawn with maybe some tanks that were destroyed in that province before. Great videos btw Marco.

I've never understood the hate for the UR mechanic in FTM and TFH.

Taking care of URs in HOI3 is as simple as putting GAR/MP divisions in all relevant areas of occupied territory. Sure, they won't kill them all, but the few that do rise up can only rise up in non-vital areas. They are also easily killed by 2xCAV divisions under an AI theater.

If you are getting UR spam, whether in MP or SP, you need to devote the resources to countering them. And since suppression also reduces the partisan impact on supply, you are getting some value from your GAR/MP divisions even when URs are all dead.

In fact, the rebels in EU4 aren't like the ones in HOI3. The HOI3 rebels/partisans are all just crappy MIL in tiny formations that are only a problem when the AI has a stroke and sends the entire Eastern Front chasing them. But even if you use full AI control, creating partisan suppression theaters to manage all that crap works just fine.

I like UR feature, though I think it needs some tweeking. The issue with UR is the way supply system works. 6 wells placed UR poping up at the same time will effectively cause the entire german army to go out of supply in russia

Not to mention that incredibly irritating polish uprising.

But hey I can only imagine all the dang partisans Albania was getting with world conquest

EU3's rebels would spawn over and over in large armies with the latest equipment and tactics. HOI3's rebels, even if they did respawn with no end, were generally single or pairs of weak MIL or Partisan brigades. One real INF brigade or a 2xCAV would clean house. At least in HOI3, it did create a valid reason to use believable numbers of garrison and MP troops to suppress unrest and put down the occasional revolt, rather than requiring major armies to deal with it over and over. It at least made "take over the world with Albania" harder (although far from impossible), since manpower was limited, even if manpower gain due to conquest was still too high.

The only serious issues I had with rebels in HOI3 was due to the AI's inability to handle them as a "secondary" threat. Germany pulling half their troops off the Russian Front to put down one weak Partisan division in France is a game-breaker, if you're playing another country.
