I did get a note today that I forwarded to the MILE. I'm almost convinced it is not a forgery. Only De Vlaminck would mention that university.

Rev. Teano at MILE tells me that it's up to us, the National Assembly, to give them the go ahead to proceed.

Anyways, I agree that we should have a policy of not catering to terrorists' demands. However, if we are going to do something about it, let's do something now and not dither like we do with everything else. A man's life is at stake.

If the ESRP is going to pay his ransom, then the instant de Vlaminck is safe we should be sending troops in. This is absolutely inexcusable. I'd prefer we found the compound where they're holding him and storm it with SWATs personally...they're extensivelly trained in hostage rescue, this is exactly the sort of thing they're for.

If the MILE still needs a directive from the National Assembly, here's my proposal.

National Assembly Directive

The MILE is hereby instructed by the National Assembly to undertake the following actions to secure the safe return of Dr. DeVlaminck:
1. Locate the compound where the hostage is being held
2. Initiate hostage rescue action via special police or "SWAT" forces
3. Once the safety of the hostage is secured, arrest those responsible

This action must be concluded within forty-eight hours. The MILE is authorized to complete this task through whatever means necessary.

Obviously, we need to haul ass on this affair. Maybe a quick show of hands on whether or not this directive is acceptable by the rest of the National Assembly? We've only got 48 hours people...

I should inform Parliament that I have forwarded a cheque from the ESRP to the Swiss bank account. My main concern was Archy's safety. I in no way am critical of the government's action, I just want Archy's return ASAP. I am sure De Vlaminck will be able to assit the government, should he be released, in its prosecution of those responsible.

What good are the police going to do? This behaviour is totally unaceptable, we should be increasing military pressence in the WET district, complete Zero tolerence, we cannot let acts like this go unpunished!

The police are trained in hostage rescue, the military is trained to kill things. We want Dr. DeVlaminck back alive, last time I checked, Colonel. So that's what good the police will do.

I agree it's unacceptable, but we need some action immediately! We can't sit here and debate this, we need to authorize an order NOW!!!

here is the report from the dp committee


1. committee decideds only form of DP to be used is lethal injection
2. committee agrees deaths by self defense shall never incure the death penalty/ nor shall insane people or those of very low IQ
3. committee agree there should be an appeal process and such a method as reconmendation is having a second closed swift trial to decide if the DP can be used, but only after the accused has had a chance to appeal the first trial, and an appeal to the trial applying the DP is allowed but only 1 such appeal for each case. presidential pardon is allowed also.
4. such crimes that could incure the DP are high treason, spying activites in certain extreme forms(assasination for example), and pre-planned murders for financial benefit or other such benefit, carried out by a sane person, and murder spree again carried out by a sane person.
5. such people should be deemed sane or not by a panel of doctors, perhaps requiring 5/8 to agree he is sane.

With all due respect, if we want to catch these people we need to HURRY. By the time we wait another week before voting, they'll simply leave, or something. Time is on their side, so we need to act fast.

Last I heard, your party was all in favor of this bill as it would revitalize our economy and provide a number of workers with new jobs. And now you're abusing your power to prevent a vote, perhaps for personal reasons? This is most unfortunate...

If I may quote our nation's constitution... Article B, section IX, clause 1: After sufficient discussion, and once they have been seconded by at least one other MNA, bills must be put to a vote.

I hope you are not intending to act in violation of our constitution, Mr. Speaker. The "villages" you speak of are New Lancaster's worst slums, and the "nature" in the vicinity is not some wetland or rainforest. There's already an AIRPORT in it, smack dab in the middle of Eutopia's biggest city. There aren't going to be any substantial new environmental impacts from this project.
