Ever since the early days of city builders, parks have always been square or rectangular. Why?

Cities:Skylines has this awesome districts feature which I think could be perfect for outlining areas we want to designate parks. Give us some props to place around these designated "park areas" and weave in some of the paths and bikes trails, and ta-dah! Unique park!

I don't see why games limit us with plowable parks. Sure they are good for quick and each, but wouldn't it be cool to form our own parks with landscaping, maybe some docks and trails? Or a small trail park that weaves in a small ravine surrounded by homes? What about a waterfront park that uniquely follows the coast line, or a forested park that straddles a river with cool little bridges?

I think being able to mark our own park areas would be a great idea. Again, it would be the same tool as the "districts" tool already in the game, but one for park making. It would be revolutionary and a first for city builders! Lets build some parks!

you can have a "central park" quite easily. you download these assets http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=474424701

having said that i like your idea

well, i was talking more like this where you would have all sorts of different things in the middle of the park. like ball fields, that wouldnt be able to touch the roads because of their location. obviously, though, because of the strange scale city builders use, this would take up the entire map.

instead of having to be bound to a road, there should just be a check that looks for a road within x-amount of squares or to be adjacent to another park that has access to transportation.

What is the purpose? Just more paint for the city paint-brush or should they exist for a certain reason? I am concerned in functionality game-wise. If this adds up to the depth of the game this would be great. Otherwise...I am not sure whether I would pay up more for mere eye-candy content.
Well, it could encourage cims to walk. The park could become walkable shortcuts to their workplace, school, or the nearest comedy bar. This can become a significant game-changer in terms of traffic and how a cim can get from point A to point B. Pretty much, vehicular traffic is a major part of the game, why not give more (healthier, cleaner, and cheaper) options for cims? Right now, we have walkways, the gravel and paved (and bike) ones. These are nice, but they may be too limiting because of the road-like manner of laying them down. A more organic approach to walkable and livable urban design is desired.

maybe it will be the 1 major change other then you can play in a autumn city and charge $15 for it. i would love to be able to use trams. but i really dont feel like paying $15 for trams. since that was basically the only new thing. i dont need to play a canada map where is winter year round.

I have experimented a lot with creating park/forests with trails. I am sure that they have an effect in raising the land value in the adjacent zone, but they have no effect on raising the leisure value of the zone. This is the only thing that should be implemented imho. However, there is a walkaround for this, you must simply insert some pre-built parks in your custom big park, and possibly connect the trails and use the same types of trees that the pre-built parks use (for cosmetic reasons). You will have a good looking huge park and increase both the leisure and the land values.
