Using the TRP mod, I have a problem that I do not recall encountering before. I want to transport two of my paratrooper units from Berlin to Baghdad so I can use them to help Persia, however I cannot simply load the planes and have them rebase from airbase to airbase as needed, on the trip to Baghdad. I have to go with the airport that takes me closer to my objective, in this case Taranto, do an 'airborne assault' drop the paratroopers on top of my ally's province, then rebase the empty transports there, wait for them to gain organization, then do this again (probably in Egypt), then finally take them to Baghdad, or maybe Saudi Arabia, then Baghdad.
Why can't I just do airlift missions? Units were often airlifted, weren't they?
As long as you have sufficient airbases under your control or in the hands of allies, you should be able to do long-range air missions, with stops made to refuel and/or rest, on the long trip.
Is there any way around this problem?
