Hidden traits sound like a bad idea. Informing the player of facts is critical to make meaningfull decisions, inlcuding who to conquer. With the Billions of people moving around, there should be some way to capture a handfull for analysis on parasite compatibility and hidden traits.

Yea, but parasite will never tell you that he are one. That's the point with parasites. In Star Control 2 Dynarri at some point effectively controlled the whole galaxy.

Edit: Here is light suggestion. If not hidden traits, there can be some two-sided traits, with hidden expansions of the sort. So race can be or not can be a parasite. But you can guess and act accordingly.

Totally different. Those are like if the neanderthals survived.

This is "you are a parasite" - you can take over other species bodies and use them as hosts.

If neanderthals survived, the dimwitted servitors species would be probably us. When we coexisted, Neanderthals were a little more advanced than us, but less adapted to the environnement.
