I wonder if there is any way to speed up production by parallel construction of ships in star-bases, for example by expanding star-base with multiple assembly yards of certain class.

Also I would be glad to know how assembly time is calculated, is it tied to planet population, resources cost or it's entirely arbitrary?

I don't think this works. It seems space ports can only build one ship at a time.

Keeping in mind that it's perfectly possible that the ability exists, and we just haven't seen it yet, this seems to be the case.

Seems a bit silly, from an expectations standpoint, but there's probably a good balance reason behind it. For now, parallel production requires multiple starbases.

I suspect it is tied to the mineral cost of the ship, then adjusted by modifiers (governors, assembly yards, government, etc).
