Would it be possible they don't sound like zombies? Is there a way to mod them to use other sounds like the vanguard marines? Thanks!

Why? They are pretty close to zombies according to the game lore. Mindless tag also.

Paragon elite are paragon in their prime, they are not zombies nor mindless. So yeah, for these special units it would make sense to have vanguard sounds.

Exactly, it's the Elite units that you can get if you complete the Oathbound campaign (or the anomaly). They are human troops not labelled as mindless.
Paragon Elite/Sniper is one of the best infantry troops you can find in the game. They're pretty close to actually having sorceror apprentices fight for you in Planetfall xD With all the stuns they inflict lol. I had no idea they sounded like zombies tho. lol
Yeah, they are great. And it's cool to go around rebuilding the Galactic Empire with them. I've found the soldier much better than the sniper, though, and with the right mods and at prime level you can get as much range as the sniper with 3 shots that can deal a lot of damage.
Instead of the sniper it would have been cool to have guards that are not zombies.
Yeah, they don't do many sounds, thankfully, but when they do it's a zombie one.
