As it is now, using the decadence system is locked out from modders who bought the Sword of Islam. If Paradox continues with this, the more DLCs they bring with new features, these new features will be out of modders hands. So will this repeat with future DLCs aswell, we cannot use their features in modding?

One big bonus for Paradox has been the thriving modding community so limiting their hands like this doesnt seem very good idea to me and certainly feels like big step backwards.

Depending what you mean by use.
You can have one religious group using the decadence system if that's what you mean.

Sure you can't have all the religion you want but only one, but it's still better than none.

I too would have wanted to be able to add it to any religion, but they said no :(

Just for fun, I'm seriously considering giving that new divine_blood modifier to the Habsburgs, so they can have brother-sister and father-daughter marriages. I know it's not accurate but it would definitely be hilarious, and I think it'd be interesting if only limited to one major dynasty.

Give it some time, they'll probably open up some of it to modding. Keep in mind they need to find a way to lock out features that only work if you have certain DLC/patches installed. Like which religions are playable in 1.06, it can no longer be a flag because its a feature.

But for decadence, its probably bug ridden anyways, but give it time and I think they'll open it up, they just need to expose some variables to a script files and read them from there.

Best of fortunes with that. Using in-game systems for strange new purposes is a staple of Paradoxian Modding! Good to know it's just a technical issue. What issues did it cause? The UI seems to switch rather easily on conversion as-is.

If you get around to it you could potentially open them up when you release the next expansion? That way the DLC gets to make its run on the market and we get to toy around with it at one point for SoI mods. Also thanks for the continued modding support. :D

I am not sure, I just asked one of the programmers. He told me we ran into problems with it.

well, I will give my 2 cents in here and say that, for me personally, decadence (a major feature) to be moddable is a big deal. I would reccomend with the best of faith that you seriously consider giving some attention for it to become moddable.

Thank you for an excellent dlc either way!

One of the features in the DLC that just dropped yesterday is not moddable = "PARADOX DLC POLICY"

Whats the point of being rude?

Reading Doomdark's post on the mod forum seems to indicate this was more or less intentional limit and it is pretty much one key features of the DLC. But we shall see I guess how it turns out.

That speaks to a bit of a sad set of priorities. Priority 1 is squeezing people for money, priority 2 is creating a good, moddable game, and you'll pursue that priority so long as it doesn't interfere with priority 1. I think that's a dangerous way to run your business - Crusader Kings is not Diablo, it doesn't have a built-in constituency that you can squeeze endlessly with only indifferent attention to the quality of your product. The reason CK2 sold so well to begin with was that it was a good game, try not to wreck that.

That's a really cynic way to phrase that.
Yeah, priority 1 is actually getting paid for the work they're doing so that they can continue working on it. I don't think that's the wrong priority at all, even though you tried to make that sound evil.
It's sad that the only way to make the "Everyone gets basically everything for free apart from the muslim unlock" happen is making the muslim unlock less moddable than it ideally would be. I'd love being able to mod other religions as decadent as well.
Still, the "you get most of the content for free apart from the muslim unlock which we use to pay for all that development time"-part is hardly squeezing people for money...

What I'd like to eventually see is that eventually all the cook features like decadence will be mod friendly and able to be mixed and matched, but playing as religion that has something from a dlc will require that dlc. So I could create a zorblaxian religion that had the decadence=yes flag, but playing as a zorblaxian would require sword of Islam

The DLC would be pointless if you could just mod it into the game.

Obviously people understand that adding it in would mean players would need the DLC in order to play the modded religion. So if you put "decadence = yes" into Tengriism or something then you'd need the DLC unlocking Decadence to play Tengriists in that mod. :)
