Great, my payment was rejected since the sale started and over the weekend I had hours of emails going back and for with your payment organization to enable my Paypal account that was disabled for no reason at all and now when that is finally fixed (allegedly, can't test because the store is down obviously) the store is down. FIVE days after I started to try to buy some games over the store... still nothing...

Obviously, yes, but only if you can log into the shop or pay them.
Also this week the steam summer sale is scheduled to start.

Why do the maintenance during a sale in the first place? Did something break down unexpectedly, or is it a communication issue between marketing and IT?

My guess is that it is because of the ton of problems they had. People couldn't log into their accounts on the store, payment problems etc.
Probably should have figured out that stuff before the sale...

The Vic II launcher is affected and the game can't be started unless clicking on Abort.
OF course it's rather unsettling making people worried the server got hacked or such without knowing about the maintenance.
Either way that's rather unprofessional by Paradox. How about a good old 404 page as traditionally in such case ?
Annoyed again.

That's by the way the same you get when reaching for paradoxplaza.com or the store page.
I also submitted a request at tech support.

You can just run v2game.exe directly.

We have no update on when it will be back I'm afraid but it's all hands on deck at the moment and we are hard at work getting it back and running .

Considering Discord, Spacebattles and Twitter went down at the same time, I'm guessing it's not PDX's fault: seems to be a general internet outage.

Yep its a Cloudflare, Amazon and Google issue with sites based on these facing trouble. And PDX servers probably use Cloudflare, so it's not their fault.
