There are also more Paradox Interactive Studios (and partners). Colossal Order could be working on a new game as Cities launched a long time ago (and DLC and new expansions should not require as much people as well as they probably has expanded).
well if romero is a great war first person shooter.... then the grand new game wont be great war grand strategy....

Romero's is a strategy game. Romero's wife is well known for strategy games as she developed Jagged Alliance and Wizardy 8.
The GS game might be the spiritual successor of "runemaster" (which was cancelled mid development). Stellaris success might have put focus on a 4x-GS game like Stellaris in a high fantasy environment.
If it isn't V3, Paradox would say it isn't but make jokes about it. That's what happened before Imperator.
If it were V3, Paradox would say that it's not because they dn't want to ruin the announcement. They will probably not risk making jokes about it. And at this point, just not saying "it's V3" would be taken as a confirmation by the fans.
It's very naive to think that if Paradox says it isn't V3, then it's not.
Now it doesn't mean that it has to be V3. But we just don't know. All we know is that the clues indicate somethign rather modern(ish). I doubt it'll be anything set before the 20th century. Could be cold war, maffia, or maybe some pseudo-Shadowrun universe set in the 50's.

Intriguing. Could it be a reboot of the 1800's under a new IP? Say, like has been suggested earlier, Bismarck?
I really hope that thie "Grand strategy stuff is somewhat connected to discarded East vs West. We have several GSGs for each interesting history period but modern times. 4 (actually 6) WW2 games, 2 Classical times games, 4 Reinessance games, 2 XIX ct games, 2 Medieval games. No game past 1950. Aren't you guys bored of another "the same" games? Seriously, how different V3 will be from V2? As much as V2 from V1, which means not much, still worst GSG ever.

V2 is one of the best pds games out there man. And it’s old and in need of a successor.
So what you’re saying is we need a fantasy GSG with an early game like Stellaris.
