So my AI vassall asks for a bethrothal. I accept. They come of age, I want to arrange the marriage and: "desires better non-agresson pact --------------". I look like WTF, ok, you wanted it, not me.... Two weeks later the AI submits the marriage request. So when I do it it's badwrongfun but when the AI it's perfectly reasonable, huh?
Logic.....

I've seen this happen frequently before, although usually outside of the realm I was in. I arrange a betrothal - specifically, a matrilineal one between one of my daughters and someone, say a French duke's younger son (and I'm playing, say, someone in Ireland). They accept the betrothal. Then the dude's older brother passes away, leaving this younger one to inherit the whole thing, so when they come of age and are ready to marry, when I contact the duke, he'll refuse, saying that so-and-so is too high in the line of inheritance. But he'll contact me, eventually, asking for that same matrilineal marriage.

I'm guessing that there's one thing controlling how the AI handles offers, and another one that handles how they keep their word?

Reading the things concerning marriage around this forum is relieving. I was afraid one of my most favorite CKII parts had been intentionally butchered by the dev team for whatever reason. Though, all things considered do I think that the AI/Player Marriage behavior simply seems to be bugged.

Even long before Reapers, I've occasionally had betrothals refused. Used to be nearly all the time, especially when different parties inherit over the years and suddenly decide they're too good for my girls. A few patches ago, AI started to actually honour their betrothals more often than not, but even as late as last week would have the tiny chance of refusing a betrothal of their own suggestion if it was no longer beneficial to them.

Reaper's such a good expansion, it started changing things before it even existed.

Did you manage to effin' comprehend what I wrote? When I suggested the marriage I couldn't even submit the offer because of that nonsense modifier. Two weeks later the AI literally asks for the very same thing I couldn't submit, apparently the modifier doesn't apply to the AI. There should be a limit how big of a nonsense you guys defend because of blind fanboyism like it should be WAD. LOL.

Did I say WAD? Did I praise Paradox for not letting marriages go through? No. All I said was that this is an issue that existed long before Reapers, and used to be far more commonplace.

Uh-huh. So your point is? I don't even have the DLC only the free patch so how did the Reapers come in to discussion?

I thought the AI refusing betrothals in the previous versions was a bug though?

I've also noticed this phenomenon, and there have been several threads on it already. I really hope that it is a bug and that Paradox will allow intrarealm marriages again.

ive had this happen multiple times and sat around confused because i never got a pop up about it. there should be a serious malus about refusing to marry some your betrothed to or breaking it off because essentially your insulting someone and going against your word for not marrying them
