Title: Tribal Authority Extended

Trigger: Empty province with natives in same culture group as us. Very long MTTH, maybe with -50% for Aztecs/Inca.

Description: The locals of $Province have come to recognize the overlordship of our tribe.

Option 1: We are mighty indeed!
Gain base 10 colony (ie instant city) in &Province, +5% Prestige.

-1% Prestige.

The idea is to allow some New World/African countries to expand past theie 1399 borders (as they did historically), without having any effect on European majors.

Can I make a suggestion to many of the people posting here? If you're writing an event with multiple choices, there's really no point in having one option which is completely good and another which is completely bad. Not picking on pyroclastic specifically, but if your choices are between:

Option 1: We are mighty indeed! Gain free provinces, more money, extra prestige, you name it
and
Option 2: We suck! Lose prestige, lose stability, etc.

Then seriously, is any player ever going to pick option 2? :D

Either make the second option just "No effect", or have both options give both a (different) bonus and a penalty at the same time.

Agreed. There should be some more plague events of some sort. Someone did suggest one such idea. And CK implemented plagues fairly well, didn't they?

Title: "Assassin Sighted!"

Description: "While heaving mead at a big feast, you catch a blade on a person close to your heir! You must help him, he's too drunk to realize the peril he is in!"

Trigger: Every time your heir reaches 16 and your ruler is not yet dead.

Option1: "He's too young! Have me instead!" Ruler and Heir dies.

Option2: "Assassin!" Heir dies and you lose 1 stability.

Option3: "That assassin is skilled, he shall be my heir!" Heir dies, new 9/9/9 Heir appears. Triggers event A.

Event A
Title: "You didn't believe in that one did you?"

Description: "Yeah right that you are going to keep an heir, let alone get a good one!"

Trigger: If Option3 from "Assassin Sighted!" is picked, mtth of 3 months.

Option1: "ARGHHH!" Heir dies and you lose 2 stability.

Jokes aside, an event that kills your heir in 3 possible ways, just like Comet sighted reduces your stability in 3 possible ways, would be regally annoying. And fun.

Title: "Assassin Sighted!"

Description: "While heaving mead at a big feast, you catch a blade on a person close to your heir! You must help him, he's too drunk to realize the peril...

Jokes aside, an event that kills your heir in 3 possible ways, just like Comet sighted reduces your stability in 3 possible ways, would be regally annoying. And fun.

1+

Hmm it can be abused! If the king dies in the time between option 3 and event A!

Like I said, "Please add more events/aspects in the game to influence population growth! That's both in negative and positive factors. Having to attempt to fight back the Bubonic plague as it spreads across the world would def be a cool aspect :)

Peaceful Protest
A collection of citizens are staging a peaceful protest at [province] to lower taxes. We could be civilized about this and show the world how nice we are. Or......

Triggers None, completely random.

Option 1 "KILL THE INFIDELS!!!" Peasants rise up in [province] -10 prestige +2 infamy
Option 2"You had me at civilized" -5% tax/trade +10 prestige -2 infamy
Option 3"I cannot afford lowered taxes" -5 prestige

I saw an a pretty good idea for a province event here:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?535107-natives-in-colonies-keep-or-slaughter&highlight=natives
It's already scripted too.

Separately something like this would be interesting:

Title: Our neighbors have grown strong!
Description: [Country X] is emerging as the major political power in [Europe/Asia/Africa/America]!
Trigger:
  • Target country is not Country X
  • Target country has provinces in the respective part of the world
  • Country X army is >20k and Country X army is more than 30% higher than the next biggest in that part of the world
  • Country X land tech is not more than 10 levels behind any other country in that part of the world
  • If the event doesn't fire in 5 years, re-fire the event and re-check conditions (i.e. refire if leader didn't change in 5 years)
Option 1: Our policy should be friendly towards [Country X], we will not stand in their way! (+75 relations with Country X, no change in relations with everyone else in that part of the world)
Option 2: [Country X] is a threat, we must stand together against it! (-25 relations with Country X, +50 relations with everyone else in that part of the world who chooses Option 2)

Event will fire simulatenously for all countries in the respective part of the world where the trigger fires.

The idea is to discourage squabbles between smaller nations when a large military threat emerges and perhaps even encourage formation of alliances. It will also make it harder for Country X to declare war and continue expansion as risk of having stability hits due to good relations will now be higher for those who chose not to stand in their way (i.e. they will be viewed as an aggressor). It will also increase chance of volunatry vassalization due to improved relations. AI decision should probably be based on relationship with Country X (if >25, perhaps choose #1 to put you over 100)

@mkhuh

That 5 year thing would be really bad. That means the event would happen every 5 years on the dot, on the same date. It should be MTTH 5 years?

Title - Monarch converts to heretic religion!

Description - After to the growing influence of Protestanism/Catholicism/Orthodoxy/Reformism/Sunnism/Shiaism in our lands, our monarch is yet another convert to their cause. S/he has already begun expelling priests/imams of the old ways and is preparing to lead the country into a new age of Protestanism/Catholicism/Orthodoxy/Reformism/Sunnism/Shiaism!

Trigger what should limit who gets it, IF any - Allows conversions to heretic religions within the Christian/Muslim group (I restrict it to these groups since the other religions tend not to be as proselytic). Triggers should be a decent proportion (at least 20%?) of cored provinces with non-state religion. I would suggest increased chances of the following conversions:

Northern Europe - Catholic to Protestant/Reformed
Persia - Sunni to Shia
Iberian/Italian countries - Protestant/Reformed to Catholic

For flavour I would also recommend England (or if you don't want determinism, large north European countries) being particularly prone to this event around the 1500s to represent the flip-flopping of state religion there being entirely determined by the monarch's whims!

Text on Button effect for option - A new era begins!

The effect of this event would be for the country in question to convert to the religion in question, the capital to convert (if not already the heretic religion), -2 stability and a flag to be put on the country not allowing religious conversion until the current monarch dies.

I think it would make the reformation that bit more interesting and give players a serious challenge in that time! I would make the event less likely to happen after 1550 and impossible to happen after 1650 (when holy war CB expires).

That would be cool because then you could have, like, Sunni Denmark.

Title - Guru Nanak
Description - The Guru Nanak has begun preaching a new religion
Trigger 100% chance if a non-sikh country rules in punjab (region will need to be added)
Effect Provinces in punjab will begin converting to sikhism

Title The Sikh State
Description The warrior caste of our country is increasingly Sikh, as a result we are increasingly seen as a force not to be trifled with by our neighbors. Perhaps this reputation could be further increased if we were to make Sikhism the state religion?
Trigger have provinces of the sikh religion
Option 1 Convert to Sikhism
Option 2 remain your current religion

I know the second one isn't very historical, but the amount of times Persia has emerged as a sunni state because of the timurids rapid-converting everything in iran convinces me that sikh religion provinces wouldn't survive long enough for a country to revolt with that religion.
