Let's not look beyond the horizon yet. Hopefully in a couple of years we'll have a Vicky 3, but V2 still has great potential and I would certainly rather them make more expansions for it then start all over with a third game.
Great game, but you'll never be able to play WW1 without these features. At the moment the battle of the Marne would consist of the Germans attacking the French and British near Paris, being defeated, and then ending up in Paris before going on a grand tour of France. The battle of the Somme would consist of the British leaving their trenches, arriving in front of the German trenches a week later, attacking, being beaten, and the spending another week either retreating to a province behind German lines, or retreating to their own lines only to find that the Germans got there first. Massive immersion killer.
Things that might be possible in an expansion?
- Improved great war dynamics: you just shouldn't be able to make peace once you've joined a great war unless you've got massive war exhaustion.
- Expeditionary forces controlled by the host country.
