Paradox Store vs Steam (preorder)

Is there any particular reason Steam players get things earlier than those who ordered on the Paradox Store?

I prefer to pay directly to the Paradox Store to make sure you guys get the bulk of the money, but it feels like those who do that are getting shafted a bit. Especially if we have to wait until launch day for anything.

Apparently, it is cheaper on GMG, using one of their 20% off vouchers they keep throwing at people.
Though I ended up ordering on Steam myself due to excitement ( and got my code asap, opposed to needing to wait till release like you do with GMG)

Only one reason: no Steam activation code given out until release date. Pre-ordering from Steam bypassed this issue.

But at the same time, you use your Paradox account to purchase the game. The same Paradox account used to log into the forums. Why wouldn't there be a flag to give things such as the avatars (and if the order is cancelled, to snatch them away)?

I'm not really complaining (as I doubt I'd use the racial avatars, even if they are very well made), I'm just curious as to why it's set up in such a way that it SEEMS to punish people for buying directly from them instead of Valve.

I completely agree with your stance; I'm just statin' what I see. I suspect the Paradox Plaza purchase doesn't convey ownership to the forum accounts because ownership is solely determined by game key/activation code... which Paradox Plaza apparently doesn't have. EDIT: Apparently Paradox Plaza does give you forum icon and avatars if you re-log. Crisis averted everyone, nothing else to see here!

If only you could stack GMG vouchers, theirs an regular voucher and theirs the paradox title one, both are 20% but that only reduces the price to $36 USD and I only have $35 on a card, why is the preorder more expensive at GMG anyway? $40 Steam vs $45 GMG

Ehh, you don't need the code--you already have the forum icon and avatars. As long as you have your Owned Items linked AND synced with your Steam account, you're fine.

Try what @GC13 said: re-log your Paradox account.

As @GC13 said, you need to logout of the forum and then back in (for the forum avatars). Doesn't seem anything beyond that is present yet for us.
