Hey, guys (Paradox). I want you to know I appreciate the Songs DLC. I still haven't listened to some of them due to the complicated .ogg format that takes a little more effort to play outside the game, limited opportunity to play in various places on the game world map and so on, but I purchase every single one of them. One of my favourite aspects of earlier EU titles was the music. I was slightly disappointed with CK1's midi-like music compared to what lovely tracks EU1-2 had (come on, dudes, Triste España in a computer game set in the epoch! that totally rocked) but somehow the tune set in my mind. I still 'hear' it sometimes. In CK2 we seem to have the best of both worlds: that lovely main tune from CK1 (or similar, it really doesn't make any difference except maybe for the better but each is unique) and the level of quality and detail of the early EU soundtrack (which was so, so cultured).
So, there are Albion songs, there are pious songs, there are Holy Land songs, caliph songs, Roman-Byzantine songs, yay! But I thought, you know, mediaeval Italian music was so cheerful and uplifting. It has that certain thing which you know when you hear it but can't really describe in words. I'm sure you'll be able to catch it if you listen to some. It's courtly, sure, but more natural and less pretentious than in other places of the world, possibly with a slight air of levity but I'm not sure if 'levity' is the right word here, as it conveys something negative, which shouldn't be the case here. Anyway, that music is so optimistic and all, cultured, easy on the ear. It would probably give a nice feel to an Italy game and I see folks playing it (a lot of small-time count or duke AARs are set in Italy and I've been promising a game in Italy to myself back since EU3).
No big deal if you can't or won't, but it'd be a good choice IMHO. (Not saying there couldn't be better or more important choices but this looks particularly appealing to me.)
Thanks for listening.
