Doesn't matter if it's the main way to get a mod. It's by no means the only way, wich is what matters.
Just because it's not the only way doesn't mean we automatically lose the right to complain about bullshit decisions, especially when they force us to use steam

Doesn't matter that it's the "main platform". It has no special place as mods can be downloaded from anywhere, and anyone can make a one-click download app.

It absolutely matters. It's not like Paradox goes around telling people "we removed this mod, here is how to find it". Most people on Steam would not even know such a mod had ever existed and, since the vast majority of mods are hosted on Steam, they really have no reason to go looking.

It is unquestionably unethical if you believe that freedom of speech means that you are always owed a platform. I would argue that you aren't. The mod is still available, the modders 'voice' hasn't been silenced.
I didn't say anyone was "owed" a platform. Of course, in this case the platform already exists, and is supposed to allow any and all legal activity. It would not have harmed Paradox in any way to leave the mod up. Censorship is censorship even it is only from some forums.

Imagine if someone passed a law that said "Muslims cannot preach using television" and then said "well they can still use radio so it's fine! Their voice isn't being silenced!"

They don't offer mods though, people do
We are complaining about arbitrarily removing these mods from a common place for absolutely no good reason

I'm not arguing the LEGALITY of removing the mod. I'm arguing the ETHICS of removing the mod. It is unquestionably unethical to remove it if you believe in freedom of thought or speech. It is of course legal for them to do so.
No?

Even if you believe that the government should not censor the citizens that does not amount to, believing that everyone should provide an equal platform of speech to everyone else.

From an ethical standpoint I am against supporting any kind of hate speech (that being against women, men, white and colored) so allowing a person to use my platform to spread a message of hate (I have no idea how legit paradox hate-speech claim is but assuming it is true) would be unethical from my point of view.

Well to be fair Disney isn't hosting ANY fanfics on their site but let me tell you, if they did and they started removing fanfics, non lewd mind you, that had LBGT romantic interests while keeping the straight ones there would be hell to pay. And I think you know it.

Which is one of the worst and most wrong analogies someone ever wrote

It is? So an example of a fan of a company's work producing a derivative piece of work that the company does not endorse is not similar to an example of a fan of a company's work producing a derivative piece of work that the company does not endorse?

I didn't say anyone was "owed" a platform. Of course, in this case the platform already exists, and is supposed to allow any and all legal activity. It would not have harmed Paradox in any way to leave the mod up. Censorship is censorship even it is only from some forums.

Imagine if someone passed a law that said "Muslims cannot preach using television" and then said "well they can still use radio so it's fine! Their voice isn't being silenced!"

You can't possibly know what harm would or wouldn't have been done, so don't pretend you do.

And 'television' is not a company, it's a medium. So no, it's nothing like that. It's more like a shop saying that they weren't going to stock a specific radical-Muslim text due to their belief that it either didn't live up to their standards or because they disliked the message.

Edit: ^ yes, they would receive hell for it, and the people whining about Disney taking away their fan-fics would be just as silly as people crying about the death of the first amendment (as though it even applies anywhere outside of America) in this thread.

Peoples inability to get information in an age where it's litteraly pushed upon you every minute and google is your friend, are hardly a game-developers problem.

Seriously.

Is it really too much to ask that someone google "stellaris mods", find a website and download a file to put in a folder

This shouldn't be too much for someone who can play a strategy game.

I took a look at the mod in question and simply find no logical reason why it should be pulled. In the base game you can actually purge pops, so what's stopping someone from purging all the non-white human pops in their own game.

Clearly Paradox should stick to making games and it would be a sad day if all of their games end up sterile and politically correct. If they insist on promoting their "utopia" of race diversity then they are very much deluded.

The laziness of users isn't Paradox's or Steam's problem. They offer a product, if people are too complacent to look elsewhere, there's a problem with people.

But, it's not laziness. It's entirely logical. Unless you're looking for something very specific, why bother googling for mod sites when the default one has 99.9% of the mods you're likely to want, and you have no reason to expect it to not have any particular mod you might want?

Perhaps, but if someone has significant power, then they should not be able to use that power to push their own viewpoint by silencing those who they do not agree with. At very least, they should be expected to provide an explanation for their decision, and not hide behind rules that say "we can do whatever we like".

Modding & our Rules of Conduct
We have a few rules of conduct that have been in effect for the better part of a decade where racial slurs, among other things, are not allowed. We interpreted this particular mod as breaking those rules of conduct, however it would appear that the comments surrounding the mod, rather than the mod itself, were the biggest problem.

We welcome everyone to create all kind of mods for us as long as they comply with our rules of conduct and we expect our modders to help us keep the comment sections free of any racial slurs or other things that do not comply with these same codes.

To see details regarding our rules of conduct, please go to: http://bit.ly/1Wg1Zix
This is the last we will comment regarding this particular mod.

So basically a modder made a tactless description of his/her mod and got called out for it. Usually at parties that I give I take that person aside and let them know is was uncool to do what they did. If the person gets his/her back up, they are asked to leave.

It's clear no one here has even seen the mod, and Eurogamer did a great job sensationalising it and pushing bad facts, but the mod linked to a youtube page that talked alot about saving the European (specifically those of German heritage) race from Muslims. Plus the fact he's pushing a mod with characters dressed up as Nazi's, it's pretty clear the guy had a racist agenda.
