While AOW is amazing expansion one thing in it annoyed me really much - also from what I see many people (everyone?) agree on that thus...

Every colony you create has minimum autonomy cap of 50%. Okay, this makes sense when you are colonizing overseas. However what is stupid, unrealistic and very NOT fun for many countries in the game:

even if you are Native American or African nation you always receive 50% autonomy penalty for colonies - even if you found them straight next to the capital on your own continent!

Please Paradox, at least lower this cap to 25%! When Europeans are founding colonies 5000km from their motherland it is pretty realistic they have big autonomy, but why Native Americans should be forced to this autonomy 50km from their capitals?

Seems to me a better solution is to keep the 50% cap for overseas provinces only and disable the ability to move capitals overseas. If natives colonizing needs to be nerfed maybe you keep it for them until they reform government?

No. Moving capital oversees is useful not only for European countries relocating to america, It's useful for any country that's near continents borders (Oman, Ethiopia, Mamluks, Poland, Russia, Ottos...). Why shouldn't f.e. Ethiopia be able to move it's capital to Aden?

I don't think Europeans should be able to move capital to the Americas. I think if you lose all your provinces you lost...game over. With the other examples you give, that to me is a separate issue about what is considered "overseas" and I agree those countries should be able to do that.

The only problem with that would be a colonial nation (say Portugal) loses all its territory in Europe but then can't move its capital elsewhere, so it has no capital.

I haven't played as indigenous groups yet but from the outside the cap does seem a bit harsh. Somone (or some people) elsewhere suggested a gradual lowering of the cap over time or through tech.

This has already been discussed in the patch note threads.

Somebody suggested that this cap should be a soft cap : the province would start with 50% minimum LA, but the player would be able to decrease that cap using monarch points.

Wiz found that idea interesting. Next patch, maybe.

I think moving a European capital to the Americas is exploitative (in a gameplay sense). At that point you've removed all challenge and you're just painting the map. You may as well just put the game on easy difficulty and play France.

How are native Americans different to Russians colonising Siberia?
Russia is eastern tech and has a big rich homeland to fund its colonizing. the Americas have very low base tax per province and most Natives start with one or 2 provinces. Their low tech means their colonies grow slowly and with the autonomy cap getting the colony doesn't improve their economy much.

I don't even know why the 50% cap is there.

Is moving your capital overseas really that powerful? I don't think so.

Having a autonomy floor of fifty percent on newly settled lands actually makes pretty good sense. This is land that until recently has been unused and mostly unoccupied, heck even after you finish colonizing the province it only has a populations of 1000 people. You wanna take 1000 people drop them in the middle of some African wasteland with only ferocious hostile natives for company then tell me your surprised when they take day to day survival into their own hands? Further more from a gameplay perspective this makes a lot of sense, any player will be able to take over all of Africa as the Kongo or all of north america as <anyone who starts there> being able to monopolize the entire continent pre-AoW made you stupidly over powered when you sent up against the Europeans. Now that art of war has come out and there are literally hundreds more provinces to colonize you want there to be nothing to at least keep you at pre AoW power levels? I for one agree with the change, feel that it's historically accurate and believe that it makes good gameplay.

It can be, for small european country moving capital to america. They get s**tload of money, are in a safe position, with just natives around them...

Wow. Now it's logical, but when many of us complained about few thousand rebel stack from colony, then it was ok?

No, I ussually send some troops to deal with said natives, until they become assimilated.

Winds up weaker than any decent European start or even starts like Mamluks or Vijay can do.

Concludes the strategy is "too strong" :p.

I like the new changes. IMO 90% of complaints is because people don't understand the new mechanic yet.

Nice insult, but expressing an opinion and then insulting people doesn't exactly qualify as an argument.

This makes sense initially. The problem is that the modifier is permanent. That province gets flagged as "colonized", and that's that. Even if it's adjacent to your capital, in fertile lands where people would flock to settle after 200-300 years, it will always be flagged that way. Once you reform/westernize, start developing better farming and adopting foreign ideas, you should be able to remove this cap. Or it should tick away after you've had the colony for a certain amount of time.

The real insult here and what reflect poorly on PI for this particular implementation is that the penalty is ignored for CNs or former CNs. That Ireland picture above could easily be replicated via "release + play as CN". We'd then see a "USA" with 0% minimum LA on more tax than ever with 100% valid presence in 1.8...you could even vassal your former overlord if you kept it small like Ireland. The DIP to annex that would be a joke price to pay.
