Paradox Please Don’t Switch To Epic Games Store

Dear Paradox please don’t be tempted by Epic Games Store because:

1- Epic Games has much more aggressive surveillance policies.

2- Steam has much better sales.

3- Steam has local pricing, without local pricing I will not be able to buy your games.

4- All our other Paradox content is on Steam already.

5- Lord Gaben protects us with experienced server maintenance and blesses us with generous sales. .

"Epic" Game Store is not epic at all.

Has there been any sign of Paradox moving away from Steam? If anything with the launch of Paradox Mods, I'd think that either a) they'll have titles on a range of storefronts (Steam, GoG, ParadoxPlaza) or just move to their own store only.

I think it's just that some of us players will take the opportunity of the Paradox Launcher and the Paradox Mods platform to move away from Steam...

While the staff have beaten me to the punch, I might as well state that with the recent Man the Guns DLC release for HOI4 on Steam, combined with the lack of transfer ability from Steam to the Epic Store, makes it very unlikely for Paradox to pull away from Steam. However, I don't see it as an impossible for Paradox games to be on the Epic Store, as well as on the Steam Store

Just wanted to add something that was said on the Paradox Podcast a while ago that has clarified a lot for me, that the strategy of Paradox has always been to look at what the other video game companies are doing and run the other way.

One of my favorite Developers are now stuck to EPS for a year (Although It is Take-Two's fault). THe Outer Worlds by Obsidian is now a EPS exclusive (along with windows store). I'd never thought The Outer Worlds would become a EPS exclusive.

PLEASE do not do this.

Between The Outer Worlds and Phoenix Point (which thankfully Fig.co refunded my backer payment), I'm not liking the direction things are going in.

Exclusuvity is my issue. Sell the games on as many stores as you want, just don't make it the Epic store only.

Looks like I'll be playing more Planetfall and IR than I thought. Was looking for TOW's but looks like I'm waiting a while.
Still not sure what to do about PP though, a game I've backed.

Metro Exodus, Phoenix Point and Outer Worlds devs said exactly same thing including explicit mentions of particular platforms until they bashed their clients with Epic store exclusivity.
That's what pisses me most in this issue. Exclusivity of the games. The only real argument in the platform war. After so many years, i finally had hope that this is being slowly bridged, with more and more console games releasing on PC, PC games on consoles and less of at least 3rd party exclusivity between consoles.
And now this. The ugly monster raises its head in the least expected place, in the heart of PC gaming.

Please don't do this PDX.

We aren't excluding any platform when it comes to selling our games but at the same time we aren't saying we will start releasing games exclusively on specific platforms. The more platforms a game is available on the bigger the reach for our audience. Then again, I'm not really the one making these decisions, but from Ebbas quote you should expect to see our games spread their wings and become available in more places.

After the horrible new broke yesterday that New Worlds was going to be a Epic 1 year exclusive I don't think I could handle life if Paradox joined the Black cursed stain that is the Epic Store.

It’s a new platform trying to compete with Steam, they give free games every two weeks a bit like Amazon.
I don’t think competition is that bad. They announced previously console exclusive games such as Journey so I don’t think it’s that bad.

Paradox Business Podcast keeps talking about Subnautica then it’s released for free on the Epic Store.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were buying Hasbro or maybe just Wizards of the Coast.

Having exclusive titles is one of few tools to grab market shares from a widely dominant competitor such as Steam.
No consumer would choose to add yet another parallel interface to launch games from, without some kind of benefit.

The same problem plagues the various streaming services.
