Because it's harder to surround things?

No it just makes war more mobile, and you don't wait for a brigade to move into a province, so they both are in there, it is when you click move, so yeah, just more fluid, less retreats, more of a front is developed, since brigades wouldn't have to retreat back to their province if they failed an attack.

That makes sense for WW2, but for most of the Vic II period, warfare was mostly static with just a few key battles here and there.

Actually, I dont think the combat is too shabby. But im hopeful Paradox will pull through and make it better after each and every patch/expansion :D. But I seriously want to see more in-depth economic capabilities(Perhaps economic depressions???).

Well, Greece DID go bankrupt after I invaded them and reduced them to a OSM...which allowed me to conquer them completely without having to break a truce.

Guaranteeing was great in Eu and Hoi, not sure why it isn't in here.

Something great that would be good as well would be two things, one would be a NAP, a non aggression pact. A promise not to declare war or intervene in a war against you but not to defend or help you fight.

The second would be a Mutual defense optional aggression pact. Unlike an alliance this would allow two nations to defend each other but not give the option to call said person into an offensive war.

Yeah, more diplomacy options for war, along with some combat ai improvements would be great.

OK I'm cool with the automated armies that would make my game play easier to work with and more fun to play. controlling armies after armies can really get a person down. so if your working on a DLC or Patch hope you look in to that.

I think it'd be a nice improvement if sphereing someone wouldn't make them a guaranteed ally. That's what sattelites should be for. Would stop a lot of the semi world wars of the mid to late game.

IIRC it doesn't, if you have cores on them they wont ally you

Pretty rare situation and to be honest, if you take a state from, say, Netherlands, they will be so crippled as to become a non-threat, so the effects of that on gameplay are negligible.

Neither Vicky 1 or 2 are perfect in diplomacy, ideally a mix of both would be best. The SOI system isn´t bad, it makes complete sense economically, just too rigid in forcing alliances. On the other hand Vicky 1 system was better in the sense that alliances were much more valuable, you really had to invest to get one, and defensive alliances are a very important concept that should have remained.

I would love to see AI being more intelligent on moving their oversea army around using transport.
Right now we see the UK has huge army in India at the beginning of the game but unable to contribute due to lack of transports.

There is one thing I would like to see changed. That is the fact that this (see screenshot) can happen. Having spent a fortune building a invincible series of fortresses in the Carpathians I get into a three front war. Hoping my fortresses will hold against the Russians and the Italians while I curbstomp the French.

My 30k stack defeats a much larger Russian stack which then sneaks across the Carpathians and lands itself in defenseless Slovakia. Where I must use my strategic reserve to deal with it.

It kind of would have been silly at the Somme for the British doomstack to just retreat into Germany after spending a few months attacking and getting ca. nowhere.

I must whole hartingly agree with fixing the retreat into enemy territory. It makes absolutely no sense for any commander to run away from home. Fixing that and changing untouchable retreating armies into something you can ambush/surround, would go a long way for land warfare in Vic2.

Agreed, that would be a massively good. And I think that it would add a lot without doing an overhaul (which I think is wrong since this is mostly an economic/political game).

I do not know how to implement it. Maybe by counting how many provinces to a controlled province and retreat in that direction? It is not perfect and maybe subject to exploits from players but still I think it would be better and certainly more plausible than a few hundred thousand men just slipping through the "Maginot" line. Then you could actually maintain fronts (without having a reserve brigade behind every front line province)

Something simple like a retreat into 2 regions into home territory, although, this would make surrounding an army impossible, unless the game makes sure u cant bypass enemy armies in a retreat, because im pretty sure you can still do that
