We all know that the communication between steam and paradox was not the best in the past. Everytime we wait on the release day we steamusers sit before our PC and wait, when all other can play. I don't want the poor Regina stay up all the night again to keep us informed, just to have to tell us in the end that the DLC comes a day later on steam.

I don't know who messes things up everytime, i guess it is Steam, but this is something which is predictable now and maybe it would be good to give Steam the version a bit sooner with the release date 28., considering their slowlyness ;) Devs think about poor Regina ;)

Everyone who thinks the same as i should post it here to keep the thread up until the devs recoqnize it.

Thanks a lot.

True, it would be best if Steam had it working properly; nonetheless, you can work around the problem by getting the code off of Gamersgate or somesuch. It'll still run through Steam.

Except with the Republic, a bunch of people went and bought a code from Greenman Gaming, who then ran out of steam codes, so people who bought it there had to wait almost an entire week after the release date to be able to get the new DLC. It was awful.

It was a day or two only IIRC ^_^;

Yeah to be fair it was only a few days. Correct me if I am wrong, but can I buy the new dlc from the Paradox store if I already have CK2 on steam? Do they provide Steam download codes for each purchase or is it your average run of the mill download?

I bought CK2 from the paradox store and got a steam code, would guess the DLC works the same way.

That is a good idea. I don't believe the Paradox Store existed last time they released a CK2 DLC, so that might make this whole process a lot easier.

At the very least we need clarification on things like this. There was a few stories going around on release day for Republic. It was confusing to some of us and I understand some people ended up burned.

You make it sound like we non-steam users are a huge horde, while it was repeatedly stated that the Gamersgate version only made 5% of the sales, which is a pity because now EUIV will be a steam-only game and there will be no more "all other". :glare:

Yeah, can someone please explain to me in small words what's the quickest way to start playing The Old Gods on the 28th if I already have a copy on Steam? Should I pre-order from Paradox store, and will that give me a code I can put into Steam that'll give me the game faster? Or will that just give me a code that'll give me the game the same time you can buy it on Steam?

I bought it there and had no problem. i think some people were getting duplicate codes.

I don't know if they changed it. I bought a DLC from Gamersgate and unlike what the user above said, they don't give Steam codes and they don't give refunds. So if you buy it from anyone who doesn't explicitly say they're giving Steam codes, get ready to burn some money.

Stores that gives a digital copy and a steam copy are essentially giving a Steam copy away for free, because anyone can keep using the direct download and trade the Steam key or vise versa (well, not so much if you need the Steam code). If Paradox does that its pretty generous.

I believe that they give you a steam code that is redeemable even if the game is unavailable for purchase on the steam store...I think that's what happened with the republic, when the few GMGers got their keys and could play before it went on sale on Steam
