The archduke is secretly an egg? This explains so much.

You mean "yoke".
No he is secretly an egg! And as such has no legitimate rights to rule the Roman Empire!

Declaration of Imperator Mehmet V

A great enemy have risen like a phoenix in the East! The Roman Empire had only heard tales of this grand Empire of the Han in the east for centuries culminating in the Abbasid's war against the Tang. As such his Most Christian Imperator and Defender of the Coptic Faith summons every able bodied man of the Empire to do their part for the security of our people. We must March to the Iron Gate Pass and confront this ancient evil that lurks with their imperialistic desires upon our ancestral land. Never shall the Empire surrender! Never shall the eternal flame of the Romans be extinguished!

By Gods Grace and the fervor of our Legions, Long Live Rome.

Iustitia et potentia

- On behalf of his Imperial Majesty Mehmet V of Osman. First Citizen, Most Christian Imperator of the Roman Empire, Padishah of the East, Shadow of God On Earth, Archirex of Rumelia, Armenia, Georgia, sultan of Irak, Shah of Irak, Lord Marshal of Serbia and Wallachia, Liberator of Konstantinyye and Rum, Prefect of Praefecturum Luccumium, Prefect of Praefectura Santa Crux, Prefect of Praefectura Mahometana, Protector of the Coptic Faith, the Roman People in Europe, Asia and the Americas, Victor over the False Bishop, Lord of the Orient & Occident, Heir to Constantine, Restorer of the World.

TL;DR there's gonna be war, war on the scale the world has never seen before.

I was pretty excited to see Forza return for the MP. Then the eastern hugbox attacked :(

@ForzaA ,@StarNaN , there is a simple solution. Pledge your allegiance to the one true faith of Copticism and call upon the divine will of the God-Emperor himself to save your souls.

That said, I am a bit surprised that Ihki didn't strike a deal with Ming for his VCs.

@Groogy A bit off topic, but what breed is your show dog? Never seen such a shade of red before
It's the "Lame" breed, actually really resourceful and I enjoy it very much.

I know Jake forgot to give me monarch rating on purpose when he was giving them out. But I myself would give me 6/5/5 or something in that style. I'm really good at getting things done and I know when diplomatic opportunities happen and how to exploit them.

Forza(Ming) I would put as 6/5/6. His brother though is a pure 6/6/6 though

He used to be allied with Austria...and (according to him), Austria never actually gave him anything for all his efforts. If he doesn't trust StarNaN to give him a couple provinces in the back end of Bohemia, do you really think he'd expect Austria to actually give him Constantinople?

I think PLC's actions make perfect sense if you assume that he's accepted that he will never get those VCs. To get his VCs, Ihki would have to find an alliance that would not only allow him to beat Groogy and Wiz repeatedly and decisively, but also give him those victory cards at the end of it all. The only people who are strong enough to do that are also too close to winning to simply hand him victory, and the people who are far enough behind to let him have those VCs are too weak and/or untrustworthy to use.

So I suspect that what he's done is look at the scores, and seen two options: take a MASSIVE risk for a SMALL chance at winning it all, or take the safe bet and secure himself a decent (possibly Top 5) finish. And he's doing exactly what somebody who has taken the latter option would do. His armies are helping to secure Groogy the victory over Johan and Da9l, while Groogy is helping ensure that the PLC finishes ahead of the likes of Austria, Songhai, Spain, and Venice, who are all within striking distance of each other.

...or maybe I'm just completely wrong, but that's how things seem to me based on the scoreboard.
Plus, getting revenge on those who've wronged you (Austria) has to be its own reward.

Not long ago, most of the hard work done by the Chinese people ended up lining the pockets of Eunuchs, Bureaucrats, Temple staff. The Zhanyan Emperor, who brought honour to his ancestors, finally saw through the smoke and mirrors that his advisors put up around him, and learned to hear the people and their concerns. With it, came a great golden age for China. Wealth increased for everyone, from the lowliest farmer, through the manufacterers, the traders, to the Emperor. Even the disgraced Eunuchs, Bureaucrats, Temples, no longer shackled by meaningless infighting, eventually profited.
Alas, with newfound wealth, come newfound enemies, and several barbarian nations to our west, long content to bask in the light of civilisation emanating from China, now became greedy.
And while it was the Commonwealth that declared war, there was no doubt that it was Mustafa who was the driving force behind the war.

With newfound wealth and fortune, China's armies had increased in size - volunteers were many, and armaments were manufactured on a scale never seen before. Yet, for all the recent improvements, centuries of mismanagement had left Chinese doctrine far behind their enemies. In and around Zasagt, thousands, tens of thousands, gladly sacrificed their life for China, but would it be enough?

A poem recovered on the body of a healer, brutally slain by the Turkic invaders, expresses both optimism and worry.

In Zasagt fields the poppies blow
Between the graves, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Zasagt fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Zasagt fields.

I think an Alliance of GB, France and Austria can Be Ready succesfull. They have a lot to gain Burgundy for France, Brabant for GB Everything East for Austria. Alliance might do with a fourth member or the bank that is called Portugal.
Since they're playing for score, how does that help any of them?

In the situation they're currently:
France needs to hold onto its Ligurian victory card (and take that last province that's held by Genoa, I suppose), and continue preventing Austria from taking it.
France could also use the Normandy victory card.

Austria needs that Ligurian victory card. And the Venetian one, but that at least doesn't conflict with such an alliance.

GB is making bank on score even without victory cards, but if they want to place 1st or 2nd they do need to grab cards off of France, or somehow make the Ottomans lose their victory cards.

All in all, such an alliance means:
France doesn't get to grab Normandy, and is thus limited in how high they can score.
Austria doesn't get to grab Liguria. And when they grab Venice, odds are good they end up with another victory card on France,
GB doesn't get to grab anything from France, though they probably didn't have much chance of that to begin with. They could possibly profit by having the alliance dismember the Ottomans somehow.

All in all, for France and Austria such an alliance means cosigning themselves to not getting all their victory cards, though I suppose it does protect their status quo.
GB could potentially profit.
Overall I don't really see what's in it for France and Austria except for a very temporary affair just to weaken the Ottomans and Commonwealth.

First question you want to ask is how does it help them to not make an alliance.
France will be in 1st if it manages to grab its two remaining victory cards. Those are on GB and Austria (not sure about this one, don't remember exactly where it is).

Austria needs at least one of its victory cards to even get into the top 5. Grab both and they're 2nd, and one of them is on France.

Great Britain will be in 1st if it manages to grab its two victory cards. They're both on France.

Without grabbing at least one more victory card, none of the three have any chance at 1st, and probably not even top three. Note how Ming only needs to grab Korea to get to 2nd place, meaning only one of France, Austria, and GB ends up in the top 3.
Unless they can get the Commonwealth and/or Ethiopia to turn on the Ottomans, I highly doubt they can make the Ottos permanently lose any of their victory cards. So without that, they need victory cards of their own if they want to overtake them, and to make sure Ming doesn't overtake them.

A temporary alliance would likely make sense to topple the Ottomans, but clearly it only makes sense as a purely temporary affair. And even if they ally, toppling the Ottos is easier said than done.

GB needs to grab 1 area from France and kill Burgundy for 1 of his cards then the luck ofc in his next card.
The area that overlaps with Burgundy also overlaps with France AFAIK.

The Commonwealth will win I think.
Only way for them to possibly win is to take their victory cards from the Ottomans.

It's at least a bit better than the Johan-Yonaz hugbox of the east last game :p

It worked!

And VC rules got changed because of it :)

Actually it's more general than that: if a VC spawns on your land, if you lose those provinces you lose half the VCs worth in points. It's why Johan was willing to give his first VC to Daniel, since 500 points wasn't likely to make or break a top-3 finish. But when you're talking 1000-2000 points, it's a much more serious consideration.

And there is a bug where if you switch tags, the code cant identify its as previously yours, so no penalty at all then..

Not fixed yet.
