I think people have the wrong impression? This isn't a war to kill StarNan now or in the future, it is a war to take what was promised to PLC and rightfully due theirs as the Polish and Lithuanian people bleed for Austria to retain their power hungry grip on Bohemia and Hungary. Several Times.

Oh yeah and liberate Electors from the evil yolk of the Archduke, yada yada yada......
didnt StarNaN actually offered polish player 'his' provinces 1-2 sessions ago and he refused?

Yes but at that point the damage had already been done in the relationship between the two.
Also not that simple as I put it forward I guess but of course those kind of "small" things matters more than assumed obviously.

I kept all my promises last campaign, even gave away more because players were complaining and I wanted to keep all the alliances. I just don't feel like putting in all the extra hours is worth it, even if it secures a better placement. I think it is way more fun to actually fight wars against players and lose, rather than winning because of talks during the week. With that said I of course still talk with players, sometimes more and sometimes less, and check for options. I am just not interested on doing it too much. If that makes me a bad player diplomacy wise then so be it. The viewers seems to enjoy it as well.
I can have wars against AI whenever I want, having wars with your friends/coworkers is something extra. :)

Oh I'm not putting a value judgment on your decision. If anything it makes the game much more interesting to watch, which I'm not complaining about. More power to you if you can make it work.

Your tactical/strategic game is evidently on point, I'm just worried you're playing the Prisoner's Dilemma while everyone else plays Iterative Prisoner's Dilemma, if that makes any sense.

Er the Romans did not draft their soldiers, they were professional soldiers. They weren't exceptional at all in that area, heck even Babylonians were more exceptional with their draft system. Their armies weren't even that big even if you compare it to Late Medieval standards. What was exceptional with Rome though was integration which gave them a lot of potential manpower.

Yes it was, and the quotes authenticity is disputed as in "we don't know if it is actually true he said this", heck Napoleon is even known for liking to hyperbole so even if he said it we don't know if it would be true. But the quote in itself comes from the point of the manpower capabilities of the Revolutionary Republic which before that was unseen. The closest would be the Abassids fighting the Tang in Tibet.maybe a thousand years ago? If we can trust those numbers?

(The mongols I don't dare to say because the numbers given by Western/Muslim account is staggering and could very likely be multiple reports of same army but just moving fast enough that it "appears" in two places)

The roman army wasn't professionalized until the Marius reforms. They did draft up until then which as I said, climaxed in the 2nd punic war. 3rd century crisis as an example to show how the manpower was still there under the imperial system I admit did make the point rather unclear. However if memory does serve me, the Ala troops were still drafted as needed which even towards the end of the principate still made up for at least half of the roman armed forces if not more. Pliny the Younger's letters from his governorship in Bithynia more or less gives us literary evidence for that being the case during as late as Trajan's reign. Which honestly the more interesting bit is how the Ala were used in non-military provinces such as Bithynia.

The romans had a few big "exceptional points" and I just realized I preface the manpower thing with "One of the major reasons". The subjection / alliance terms they had with their subjugated allies for manpower over tax was rather unique of them as well as their willingness to extend Roman citizenship to a relatively wide range of people (excluding the social war). The other big hitter was their willingness to adapt which is odd considering stubbornness was a defining Roman trait as well :p

The archduke is secretly an egg? This explains so much.

You mean "yoke".
No he is secretly an egg! And as such has no legitimate rights to rule the Roman Empire!

Austriae est imperare orbi universo!
But as a dutchman I'm really rooting for Brabant can into Netherlands! And I'm proud that the Netherlands (which, knowing our gamers, probably has a relatively large pdx fanbase) is represented in the office and the fight! Concordia Res Parvae Crescunt was the motto of the Republic, from unity small things blossom. Blossom like a Lancaster flower, of course

Declaration of Imperator Mehmet V

A great enemy have risen like a phoenix in the East! The Roman Empire had only heard tales of this grand Empire of the Han in the east for centuries culminating in the Abbasid's war against the Tang. As such his Most Christian Imperator and Defender of the Coptic Faith summons every able bodied man of the Empire to do their part for the security of our people. We must March to the Iron Gate Pass and confront this ancient evil that lurks with their imperialistic desires upon our ancestral land. Never shall the Empire surrender! Never shall the eternal flame of the Romans be extinguished!

By Gods Grace and the fervor of our Legions, Long Live Rome.

Iustitia et potentia

- On behalf of his Imperial Majesty Mehmet V of Osman. First Citizen, Most Christian Imperator of the Roman Empire, Padishah of the East, Shadow of God On Earth, Archirex of Rumelia, Armenia, Georgia, sultan of Irak, Shah of Irak, Lord Marshal of Serbia and Wallachia, Liberator of Konstantinyye and Rum, Prefect of Praefecturum Luccumium, Prefect of Praefectura Santa Crux, Prefect of Praefectura Mahometana, Protector of the Coptic Faith, the Roman People in Europe, Asia and the Americas, Victor over the False Bishop, Lord of the Orient & Occident, Heir to Constantine, Restorer of the World.
