bled groogy dry. No one used scorched earth. That "untappable max manpower" surely would have sunk.

I at most of the war stood in provinces that in total gave me 4k attrition and still managed. I don't think you understand my insane manpower recovery in combination with Polish cavalry and my mercenary build that just completely dominated the battlefield.

I was even subsidizing several of the nation's in the war effort because my soldiers were so cheap it was ridiculous. For me to build 120 000 men cost me like 750 ducats which is nothing and the maintenance was so low it wasn't noticeable.

Like I said sometimes before "Russian lives are cheap"
But in last session the Russians were cheap but led by 23% discipline high morale and 3 star generals, aided by Polish cavalry with almost 100% combat ability.

In the finale mamluks and bahamanis took very bad fights with -2 penalty. Also everyone brought too many cannons, in those massive 150 vs 200 battles having more than 25 cannons doesn't serve anyone. Next time have tons of infantry for such fights.

Also the mughals and bahamanis could have taken more fights in the mountains and bled groogy dry. No one used scorched earth. That "untappable max manpower" surely would have sunk.

Scorched earth isn't really scorched earth. Unless battles are being fought else where the MP drain from scorched earth wouldn't have really done much but dent his monthly regen.

Scorched earth would only work if:

1. Groogy used insanely large stacks (talking 90+ (Which is a full combat width back and front with some spare)-> which rarely happens.

2. Multiple provinces were scorched and Groogy happened to be sieging them all at the same time.

So yeah Scorched earth =/= not effective.

Maybe they need to improve scorched earth......

Thanks for playing guys, it was super fun. That salt was really funny, but well justified. Daniel really deserved one of these trophies... And he got one. From awhile back I was rooting for Mamluks, so it was satisfying to see them advance just before the end. Johan said you won't be playing next week, any chance of that changing? What about one after that?

Don't think they will be playing in March. Probably April.

I imagine GDC is the main reason not to start a campaign right next week. Also gives everyone a little time to go back to normal after the adrenalin rush and feelings of betrayal of this campaign ;)

Curious if StarNAN could have swayed Carsten's Mamluks to their side if they'd conceded Fernando Po to them.

With the ticking score from that score card, and the chance of retrieving their remaining Ottoman score card as part of the war, they'd have had a real chance of displacing the Mughals 3rd position.
Not that StarNAN would sell out Johan in such an underhanded way

Well, I stand corrected. Thank you all so much for a truly exciting finale. Austritaly certainly deserved one of those trophies, and Russia will always have a special place in my heart. I'll root for Groogy next time.

The Baltic Union was a monetary union created by Tsar Fyodor II with the states that were on the Empires border. Denmark, Bohemia and the Polish Cossacks. Denmark and Russia has since long been engaged in exclusive trading and dealings with each other and only came natural. Bohemia being part of Russia's Sphere it only came natural that they joined the Union as well. An Ataman Governor were appointed in Warsawa by the Tsar to lead the Cossacks on behalf of the Empire which in the coming war proved essential.

Fyodor knew a war was coming and he prepared the entire Union for it, subsidizing and building up the various member states. As the members grew and the borders between them safe the economy of Russia flourished and reached a peak being one of the richest nations in the world. Then His Imperial Majesty departs from this world too early and his.... son..... inherits the throne. Still a young-ling the cabinet takes power over the state and continues on with the policies the young Tsar's father set.

Unfortunately Antonio is remembered as a failure of a Tsar as he came of age he let the cabinet continue managing the Empire. The great war had already broken out and he was forced to lead his warriors in Central Asia and proved to be on par with the great Generals of Russia. He was born in the war, he was forged by it and baptized by it.

LONG LIVE THE BALTIC UNION!

Nice map of the world Groogy, but no Special Name for the Imperial Republic of Gotland?

About:
So yeah Scorched earth =/= not effective.
Scorched Earth has really only one use: If you have lots of forts on the border, and you see a retreating war comming. Place 1InfMerc on every Fort Province, and as soon as you are in war Scorch Earth. You get lots of extra Defensive Stats, and Attrition rise. If the Forts are in Jungle or Mountains and you have Defensive Ideas they take endless to siege. And in all this time they take attrition (sadly in most MP Games not enough to make a difference.)

Overall very fun, just wish I had a nation that had more potential in winning land wars. :)

Oh I tried all I could. Offered him the Island in return for him switching sides. My allies accepted it but Mamluks chose to stay on the dark side.
