We probably needed some player in ayuthaya to balance things out. I am not the only player who did massive expansion into AI countries though.
At the point when I was surrounded by only players and all AI was gone, I had only gobbled up slightly more amount of AI development as mamluks, mughals, burgundy etc.

Man, at the end of every EU4 campaign, EVERYONE is westernized.

I know that makes it more competitive for non-Europeans, but seeing Malaysia invade Great Britain for the umpteenth time, or a westernized Hindustan storming the world pre 1800s is remarkably removed from reality.

Ya, I am insanely careful about colonizing now, I don't core next to them until I am ready to obliterate them.

This is a game about blobbing and is innately ahistorical. So whether is actually happened or not is a moot point.

Atm we have Bahmanis, England and Mughals at score spot 1,2,3, reassuring this isn't changed, all players decide to gangbang fritaly, except for Mamluks, in #4/5, waiting to grab some opportunity.
What we actually witnessed is
1. The top three sticking together to keep their position.
2. Italy doing the same to claim their top three, and along with France, to survive.
3. The Mamluks lurking but too weak to take a step without reasonable and guaranteed support.
4. The rest of the player base either minding their own bussiness and/or -because they know they won't rank better- being the little bitches of the overlord they despise less. (Ottomans, Bohemia, Denmark, Burgundy, Spain, Portugal, Ming, Poland and Russia).

Not going to lie, the diplomacy done this campaign is pretty brilliant. Essentially the office complained about the hug boxing going on in Western Europe between France-Italy-Burgundy since that probably would have won the game. Italy and France break the hug box essentially due to peer pressure and now a greater hug box formed. At least France, Burgundy, and Italy fought for their victory cards.

Really though it's just disappointing that the devs who created victory cards to break up hug boxing have instead of using victory cards the way they designed them to break hug boxing have used them to reinforce hug boxing. Especially with Yonaz, Johan, Starnan, and Martin.

I love the concept of having a strong ally the entire game. Not so much when it's more than one. No idea how to break it, but coalitioning the only people who actually did what they were supposed to with victory cards is very poor play by the devs imo.

That said and done however, GBs friends I have something to remind you. Martin was welcomed to Paradox through rightful initiation. I don't believe Starnan has yet been iniaited. I can't quite think of a better way than reverse coalitioning him and not letting the new guy get a trophy first time out ;)

Watching the multiplayer forum from time to time, without having dared to join, i saw that there was a rule where tier1 countries couldn't ally each other.
Maybe some rule close to it regarding the "ladder" should be implemented". Like "you can ally #2 as #1 but he won't take a trophy" sort of thing.
It is also pathetic that #1 and #3 actually didn't have to actually engage in the carnage in Europe but in the very late game.
I guess victory cards shouldn't be "sold".

In our MP games we limit the development points per alliance-group to 30% of overall human-controlled development (we add some modifiers for vassals etc), and recalculate the %-numbers after every session. This has been the only way how we could keep the alliances dynamic without hurting the diplomacy aspects of the game. I heard of more complex ways of calculating relative strenghts of nations before, but you have to be a programmer to implement them because its really time-consuming to find all the information in the ledger, provided they are there ...

Victory cards do not help most of the time to break up alliances because the fun of the MP game is imho in having competition among more or less equally strong (groups of) players during the game, and not in achieving the highest score after 30+ hours of gameplay.

This said, it would be great if the ledger, the in-game score and some sort of pre-conditions for alliances based on information in the ledger could be modded into the game.

That had to be the single most disgusting session yet. First Fritalian war declared for no observable reason. Groogy selling out for BS in the middle of nowhere. Ming being the whipping boy of Bahmanis and GB, only to finally threaten doing something in the second Fritalian war. The Stockholm Syndrome is strong there, considering what he's been through. And overall, Great Britain continuing to hide and do absolutely nothing while threatening his allies on others because he knows he's completely incompetent. The ego there is silently even larger than Groogy's. Johan . . . Yonaz . . . quit protecting that coward, he's earned absolutely nothing.

And lastly, on a special note . . . GROOGY, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!? You scored your stackwipes through tactical ingenuity, not quite an inherent superiority of your troops! You gotta stroke your ego the right way. Your inherent lunacy is getting the better of you, you're walking straight into a trap! St. Petersburg will be Italian by 1821 if you pursue this insanity!

I really dont see what the second war against fritaly was about, kicking the old leaders while they where down? And the third one, why are everyone on GBs side, I understand that the top3 want keep fritaly down but Mamelukes and Ming have reason to stand against GB. And Russia, Bohemia and Denmark doesnt really have any reason to back GB.

Well, this has become just not fun. It's bound to happen in SP games when you have managed to surpass any possible opposition, but for this to happen in an MP that is supposed to showcase a feature designed to break hugboxes, let's just say it is a bit underwhelming. A lot, rather. Just echo what has been expressed above: other than the top 3, only Bohemia and Burgundy have a reason to go against Fritaly (for VC reasons basically), although it is only natural that they would remain within their previous power blocks. It's just not fun, however, for the spectators.

The first war we saw, I reckon was as exciting as the First Anti-Fritalian Coalition, due to the balance of forces and the sustained notable army management. The second has just shown that this campaign has nothing more for us to see, however. Here was a brilliant chance for everyone to just juggle their way into becoming minor power-shifting blocs. I'm of the solid opinion that Mamluks-Ming support for the Fritalians could have been enough, yet at the same time probably a death sentence for the Ming. All in all, the game has lost the excitement and the fun because it has become all too predictable: because players refuse to be unpredictable anymore.

Next campaign will have some severe tweaks to VC. Me and Yonaz should lose score for losing vc like that.

Dunno why do you say that GB is incompetent, after I read your post I think that he is a brilliant diplomat :p

PS. Portugal second in development! How?

All of Spice Islands and half of Africa tend to have some development.
