Frankly, I'm surprised that Johan has managed to survive until now, considering the Ottomans and the Bahmanis have tons of cards on him. Not to mention the Russian menace, since there still exists a Russian enclave within Mughal lands.
Perhaps Yonaz is just holding off until there are only a few decades left to grab those lands, so that the western powers don't have much time to react to the leaderboard changes.

I don't understand why did Groogy peace out so early. Was GROOGY rattled when he saw Rome marching on his lands ? Maybe we need better winter attrition mechanic. I was hoping that Fritaly would finally get the smacking it deserves.

People questioning out why I peaced out so soon didn't see all the back-door diplomacy that was happening at the time. I saw Mughals and Mamelukes going "YES YES! HOLD HIM IN YOUR UNION!" so I saw the perfect opportunity to unite the Eastern Claims of Russia with the Fatherland again.

I'm not entirely incompetent in diplomacy. I kept OE, MAM and Bahmanis as my friends for as long as I could.

If by "could have done better", you mean "could have stayed in the war longer" .. sure, but to what end?
The best possible outcome of that war, especially with Italy in it, would be some minor border adjustments in our favour. To be perfectly honest, that's not an outcome that benefits me much, if at all, at this time and in this strategic situation.

To be honest, I would have probably done the same thing in your place, but in hindsight it looks like you could have fought them until the truce in Western Europe ran out and hellfire ran over Fritaly from all sides.

Now of course this may not even happen. Only time will tell whether you chose the best possible option.
