Wait...we can't strait block anymore? Boy, we're going to need new strategies as Byzantium.

Apparently you didn't read the PDS post just a couple of pages ago...Wait...we can't strait block anymore? Boy, we're going to need new strategies as Byzantium.
Edirne has lvl 3 fort at the start date, so there is really low possibility to siege there before Ottoman army coming to protect its's capital, as Ais don't let others siege their capital easily.I think this means you have to start with sieging Edirne if you're going the 'Ottos just picked a fight with a naval power and lost, let's do this' route.

It wouldn't be..The question is will having an active siege block control.
Yes, sounds plausible.Though to be fair, in my last 1.13.2 game I trapped most of Ottos on Naxos and Corfu instead (they declared on Venice and lost most of their fleet), so even if not, it doesn't -end- this strategy. Just makes it very hard.
How did buddhist change in this? did the ceylon a short while ago, with no trouble with karma, apart from a few periodsLook at all those people playing out of the new world, and so many picks on the strong/fun Buddhism! It's a good thing these places got nerfed, or there'd be even MORE people playing them!

I don´t get it? You cannot block movements with fleet unless you control both sides or just one? Since trapping an army would mean they take control of that province and then be able to move back? It's entirely possible that I fudged the wording on the stream, but if the enemy controls both sides of a strait you cannot block their movement with a fleet.
Denmark can still defend their straits, but Ryukyu can no longer trap all of Japan on one island without putting some boots on the ground.

If this is the case, I only somewhat like it. Do like that you cannot block an army by putting a cog there, but dislike that you cannot put a large enough fleet there to prevent it. trying to cross with tiny boats (which is how I see swedes crossing into Jutland) should be limited by putting 4 heavy and 10 galleys protecting the strait, or at least make them suffer some casaulties in the crossing, due to ships hunting them down.
Can it be tied to not only control, but how effectively they blockade? so you would need 100 % to block, below that would only mean some casaulties depending on the efficiency and what ships you put there, like cogs not doing much damage
Would also be nice if you then did something to prevent spamming the fleets in one place, but gave the need to split them up... Really dislike how armies and navies are only really effective and used when you gathering them massively... Some drawbacks to having too many could be a nice feature and make them spread out more to get more effective... Not sure if AI can handle this though, but if able it would also prevent AI putting too many troops into one province that they could siege down with 1/4 of the amount![]()
With the diplomacy changes, can you say all that with certainty?Allying strong nations will be working. Ally and attacked by Ottomans or stack favor and attack Ottomans when it become weak.
As long as they don't change factors affecting alliance or making AIs clever so Ottomans attack Byzantium first.. That will work. Just an expectation from the fact that there was no mention about those things, but maybe we will see one of them at patchnote, who knows. With the diplomacy changes, can you say all that with certainty?
As I understand it, @DDRJake is saying that if country A controls both sides of a strait then country B cannot blockade that strait. It is currently unclear whether controls means owns or occupies and whether an active siege affects this.
