We'll find out once that part of the map is explored. Though probably nothing but a couple of islands.
This something I don't understand. Why didn't Portugal catch Cape Verde and jumping islands early and with its bonus to colonial range blocked Spain from colonizing?
Antagonizing your bigger, stronger, human-controled neighbour without sufficient backup would be a foolhardy thing to do.

Portugal usually wins from alliance with France not Castille, doesn't it? Besides, I meant blocking Castille from colonizing in the New World. Africa would/could have still been an option.
Why wouldn't France want an alliance with Portugal? With Austria being the guarantor of piece, it would been hard for Castille to attack Portugal. Besides, at an opportune moment France+Burgundy+Portugal could even try to take on the rival alliance.
If I were Spain I think I would be forging an unholy alliance with France right about now, Spain has reason to want Portuguese land and France has reason to want English land between them and Burgundy even if Austria defends England I highly doubt they could stop them. The real question would be in the final negotiations and how much each person agrees to a fair share
This is probably not wise long-term. Once France gets its cores from England, it will turn on Spain.
I doubt you could make england surrender all of that land in a single war, so the alliance could work for some time, also Spain would want to turn on France eventually anyway since France stole Aragonese cores
If you look in the stream and compare the map with the map provided here it looks like a big chunk of the map was cut out. Though I am only guessing since I don't have access to the save so I can't cheat by checking up on the RNW

Well I think there is more land to the west than only the white rectangle, it has just been cropped out.

Made an agreement with Spain. It's the first time I'm even playing a colonizer (because I usually avoid playing naval nations as a personal preference), so I stick to the old world because it's basically new to me anyway.
As for allying with France, the question was certainly on the table, but it was a high risk option. I can't really take on that kind of risks when not being familiar with colonizers. It would also quite possibly mean war with Spain, which would cost an enormous amount of money at a phase of the game where it is in short supply.

Question - is the Spain player experienced with the position? Because if yes, it seems a mite unfair to stick someone without experience in a weaker position next to a competitor who is experienced in the situation/playstyle/conditions.
Trin who plays Spain has a single player background AFAIK, so although he has played the game much more he's new to MP politics.

Last game I quickly got partitioned 4 versus 1 by DDRJake & his QA friends when I played Timurids.Well, just take into account that you have bargaining power with France (you can promise to help out BBB on condition of taking 3-4 colonies from Spain - Cape Verde and 2 provinces in the new world are most important) and Spain. You can use this threat to take concessions from Spain. Austria as a guarantor currently works in your favor.
