EDIT: I was also enjoying the prospect of a Mamlukian Africa. Have a soft spot for them.
I will naturally attempt to put myself in the best possible position - but the worst position I could put the Mamluks in, is one where I've *just* made new enemies, but have not yet defeated them thoroughly, because then they WILL have their revenge on the Mamluks if/when I'm not there.
Even if the Ottomans ARE thoroughly defeated.. It would still present a major shift in European politics.. And let's be honest here, people much rather fight AIs than human players, so my new European neighbours might find the prospect of conquering Mamlukean land entirely too tempting.
Of course, there is no guarantee that the Ottomans won't annex me ANYWAY.. but eh..

Said to hear that you won't be playing for the next sessions. Your expansion into Africa was, for me, the most interesting about this whole office multiplayer. Would have loved to see a Mamlukian Africa warring with Portugal over the coast-line provinces.
Theres no real benefit to that. Portugal essentially wants the coast provinces and the tradecenters while a player in west africa is probably more interested in the gold provinces. So im sure they could have worked out a deal that would be great for both parts.
It doesn't matter what you do now, making new enemies or not ... the second week that you'll be away the mamelucks will be "free for all" and will get destroyed.
Unfortunately the Ottomans player was out this week so the nation was safe from attacks by players.
It would have been folly to attack me anyway. Though nothing protected me from my nation sitting and doing basically nothing for four entire early-game decades while that cruel god known as Time left it behind

Can't you AFKers find any subs? Surely there's new hires or interns that can be dragged into babysitting your country while you're away. Just tell them not to go apeshit every single war and not go deep in debt shipping mercs halfway across the globe on someone else's behalf and you're light years ahead of an AI already.

Well honestly the AI is better than new players. Just look at the poor new guys who got annexed by the AI in this session!
They could even try recruiting people from the forums. There are many experienced multiplayer players here. I wouldn't mind subbing a dev myself. I'd have to play on beta though, but I wouldn't really mind that

So since Bahmanis will probably get a very easy second victory card on a non-player, would it mean that we already know the winner to this session?
Even so, Bahmanis can loose their victory cards against players later and with them, the points.

Seen like Spain will get the most of the New World colonies. Serve Wiz right, for...bullying....poor....France? Oh god why..
Considering the state of the new world perhaps Wiz would be better served by taking on the continent.
