So you are just arguing for the sake of arguing and try to prove yourself better? I haven't disputed that for the player it's better for the player to just keep the war going. You are however wrong on Ai behavior that giving the AI the demands it wants will make it refuse the peace. The 100% warscore might kill you if you are small enough but it's more probable that majority of players are stubborn and won't give up a single piece of land even if it will save then from a spiral of death. That is what my 8 years experience in MP say. The players that win the campaign are usually not those.

If you have such a need to show yourself superior I'm not going to satisfy it for you. The discussion is over and fruitless because you are just ranting and not actually keeping a discussion, reiterating points that has already been made for no purpose that is also besides the original topic. I will keep this thread clean, if you have problems with that you can pm me.

I am not sure of a good way to convince a victorious nation to accept a surrender, but surely this time period has some historical examples. Maintaining the occupation of entire nations should be economically unsustainable.

Perhaps a mechanic whereby a country can offer to surrender to the enemy warleader.

a) Conditional Surrender @ max of 40% warscore OR current warscore+25%, declining this offer gives -1 stability. (can only be offered every 3 months). Winner decides what to take! Loose can veto one pick which was not a casus belli reason.

b) Unconditional Surrender @ 100% warscore - This cannot be refused. Winner decides what to take!

100% warscore, all provinces considered occupied for peace mechanic purposes, immediate call for peace with +500% rate of increase over the normal.

For gameplay purposes, the victor gets whatever they want from the loser. All they're blocked from is trying to take things from an ally in the war, and frankly, so what if that gets hurt. For historical purposes, it seems reasonable - the war's over, the populace wants the men home, the soldiers don't want to stay on campaign when it's clearly finished and want to come home.

I expect the AI will probably never take this option, and humans will rarely use it on the AI, and it'll be a last resort even in MP, but it fixes a necessary problem. Length of war plus coalition frequently means it's impossible to end a war for years, for instance, and obviously the ability to just park on a nation and deny them any chance at reasonable recovery is a problem if we've seen things like 15 year truces and revanchist mechanics coming for it. So, nip it where it's at its worst.

I've made a new thread about surrending and peace deals. This is an interesting conversation, but I think that a lot of people won't see it since it's kind of buried in this thread, and it's also distracting from the actual topic of the thread.

Regarding the multiplayer game: Is there any chance that we'll get to see a quick demo of the new diplomacy mechanics next week, now that they've been officially announced?
