I've obtained access to the filesystem in my PS4 and have been able to view the files for the game, got a cheap console copy for this exercise, and compare them to my PC copy.

The difference is night and day, Below is an example of the Ascension perks. There are many other bits of 2d art like technology card graphics that have been similarly overhauled.

The console artwork is so much richer that if it was not for mods, I think I would play console over pc.... I think i might try and port these icons over to the pc copy to see how it looks too.

There are so many gorgeous technology art pieces. @Eladrin @Alfray Stryke @MrFreake_PDX Its a crime to not have this on PC too! Is there any possibility to bring this art to pc in a hd pack?

I'd ADORE getting the HD icons on PC. Can you post this to suggestions? I tried to find a mod that did this exact change, but no dice. I am wondering if the HD assets have some kind of rights barrier.

Agreed, some of those zoomed in icons look absolutely amazing. They'd go well with a HD ui (or the upscaled UI mod).
I think if paradox did this they own the rights, so that wouldnt be an issue? They'd have all the raw files too I'd imagine (I hope lol). But looking at the filenames in screenshots they're all in TGAs, not sure if PC stellaris supports that out of the box? it usually uses DDS. Might do, never tried it when i've been modding. They're easy enough to convert too.

Edit:
Anyone know what these traits are from that second post? I just tried to find them in the wiki they dont come up historically either. The indolent image still exists in the files (diverse doesnt?) but there is no indolent trait?

Diverse is now called Ingenious, and is the Energy-boosting trait.

While I'm not sure about the AP icons, the tradition and technology ones should definitely adopted if possible!

I could be pulling this from my arse but I seem to recall seeing a species generated via an anomaly with this trait.
theres a good chance my mind is just being a dick though and just making it up.
It the sloth icon definitely existed as a trait, I remember it too. but it looks like it was fully scrubbed from the trait files, not even commented out.
The localisation strings still exist though

From the sounds of that, it probably ought to add happiness to unemployed pops & -pop output, or something similar.
