no not really, Portugal helped Granada in the 1350s to reclaim cities.granada always had an exchange of intrigue with the Christian courts, sometimes helping Castile against Aragon, sometimes Portugal against Castile. This is quite natural.

They probably havn't checked with their local Papal representative. I am sure that de Luna will have some interesting insights into the sale of the Balares. ;)

I'm not worried about your soul, GA, as much as I am your politics. I have a nice picture of Karl IV concluding an alliance with my Charles V; hopefully I find an occasion to celebrate that historic concord. :)

What?! *blurts coffee onto the keyboard*

Well, if I ever needed an impetus to get my court and start posting, this would be it.

Aragon has a centuries-old treaty with Castilla clearly delineating the territory to be claimed in the Reconquista; part of the agreement was also to stand united against the Moors (unlike before, when previous emnity wrecked Christian offensives). A back-stabbing alliance I could understand, but giving away territory?

Except PMing them and pointing it out
I agree with Blade! on how to influence them.

Bear in mind thought that Vaclav (current king and emperor) is anything but like his father. I think he's more or less complete opposite.

From a purely statistical point of view, the money can't go through anyway. If it is made a gift, so that Aragon has extra eco on hand and Granada can regenerate eco then this is a potential exploit (consider loaning your ally a wad of cash, wait till he regens and go to war together, with free cash). The only fair way I can see to do it is to 'store' the cash (treat it like a non-repayable loan), so Granada can't regen until Aragon spends it.

Sale of lands were carried out once in a while in the old game. However, that was most often when one nation was at war, often loosing or at least outnumbered, and needed sme quick cash. The payment was given as gift through events.

But, as said, that was during wars, while nations' stats could get inflated above normal maximum. In good ol' times (which weren't allways really that good, and not that old anyway), nations could end up having above normal cash as result of expired trade events, since the eco earned by event didn't disappear when the event expired.

I definitely think sale of lands should be "possible" I can't say what would be the best mechanics for such a thing, but as Bz said in times of war and such it is a good way to earn cash and has some precedent in reality.

Denmark sold Estonie to the Crusading knights under Valdemar Atterdag in the 1370's, and before that, Christoffer II, the sod, basicly sold entire Denmark to the counts of Holstein. So yep, nothing unhistorical in selling away lands. Ground for event; that's for Katz to say. trouble with the rules, that's for Lad to decide. But grounding in reality: sure!
