Why 25? Why the limit?

Anyway, I generally like your ways of thinking, save the limitations. Ahistorical and as far as I can see they are merely to provide some illusory feeling of fairness. I like your concept of a conclave -- though remember, there were three ways of electing a Pope before the Vatican II: (1) the two-third majority; (2) compromise (appointment of a committee); (3) acclamation (unanimous declaration of Pope; Avignon Pope Benedict XIII was elected this way). There's no real reason why we couldn't have these.

However, a played Papal election runs the risk of degenerating into a US Presidental election like thing, as it always happened in the previous incarnation of the game, and it's no good. The other problem was in the last year of the game that nobody really wanted to leave his country to become Pope.

Don't be hurt. :eek:o I merely meant that I can, for example, give you a list of what overlord stats would be if they annexed their vassals, so you have a benchmark of 'average' support. If I thought you had "no concept of such things" I'd codify NPC vassal support instead of passing it to events.

I was just being silly. :)

In other news, my court is finally open for posting if anyone wants to visit lands sliding toward the brink of disaster. :D

Yes, I'm really sorry about that. I'd made a lot of changes prior to inscriptions, but never had the time to update the stats until now. I don't like making drastic changes to played nations. I'm not sure Ferrara had much of a navy, but I've reinstated the port as some compensation for the loss of the 1 eco (which was the result of a comparison of Modena with Firenze and Siena). PM me for details/complaints.

No problem, I will just have to go annex some of my neighbors to get that eco back ;)

Well I told the funniest way of election, I choose 25 as limit, because after JPII's death and before the conclave in which Benedict XVI was chosen I was reading about conclaves and looks like in the middle ages-renaissance they were petit group composed of 20-25 cardinals, but well truly we can make them being a bit more(always that they are not pair in number) For example when Alexander VI was electerd there were only 23 cardinals, also could had been luck the others died and got that a little number :p
And never forget original number of Cardinals electable were 12, as the number of Apostles :D

Errr... You're right about the limit. I thought it's a later invention, but Urban VI created exactly 25 cardinals after the schism, and it's pretty very suspicious. Clement had 25 cardinals after the great consistory of 83. Oh my!

I apologize :). Let's blame it on the Friday.

Did someone mention the Turkish menace? The English can't kill my nobility fast enough; I'm willing to send some on crusade so long as you easterners promise to do better than Nicopolis! ;)

That's quite alright, these crusades tend to be very.. disadvantageous to the Roman Empire. :D

Hey Sap,

You're trying to sell serbian metals to Hungary, so that you can indirectly support Serbia economically?:p

And why bring silver from Serbia to Ragusa, to the Adriatic, and then to Buda/Hungary whatever? Never heard of the Danube?;)

Naw mate, that's the best part. I'm to understand that most of the mines in Serbia are at least partly owned and run by Ragusans anyway. Its no matter though, I suppose we need someone looking out for our economy, we certainly aren't. Serbia cares for two things right now, swords and strong arms to wield them. Pet, rest assured, if you have nobility to spare (this Venetian looks promising) we'll be happy to invest them into the Balkan meat-grinder. :D Yes, 1371 didn't go so great, but 1381 was a great success and 1389, well, we at least killed the Sultan and pulled a draw. :p

In the other RPG those metals were from Serbia and balkans (you said so), I assumed they came from the same district now aswell.

Nice!

Now I understand where my d'Altavilla courtiers are from. They are the son of Matteo II d'Altavilla, that means, Federico's cousin. Antonio is the son of the older brother (Matteo, son of Nicola and Clemenzia di Montefusco), while Federico is the son of the youngest of them.

Also, that technically makes me the controller of Federico, since he's a real person and from my domain. *Evil Laguhter*

Dw, I won't take him away from you.:p:)
