I am rather annoyed at this silly worldwide crusade being planned based on a few words said on a hilltop.

Furthermore, when this inevitable hammer of Christiandom comes knocking, I hope that it at least suffers the historical hardships that faced them in dislodging the Ottomans.

That said, the Greeks are going to suffer.

It is also pathetically obvious that it is only originating out of boredom and confidence in Hungary's mil and econ points.

I've been planning this for a long, long time. The moment I signed up on the RPG, in fact. :)

As for historical hardships, well, remember, the lands you rule are mostly Greek and Orthodox. They weren't as "Turkified" yet, so if anything, the Ottoman Empire would have been the easiest to dislodge.

Oh, I'm going to suffer? Good luck. :)

Oh, I'm going to suffer? Good luck. :)

Mostly what annoys me is that you were spurred in action by reports from 'Turkish spies' regarding the meeting I had with the Serbs on the hilltop. Before that meeting had even ended.

Ironically, while hammering out a treaty with them to deprive Hungary of an ally, I mostly evaded being overtly hostile to Constantinople by leaving it open ended if the Greek actually was planning to break the earlier truce between your current Emperor's father and Murad.

Though, it was rich to see Icarus in his court compare him assisting Byzantium to my support of Wallachia. The latter was 99% provoked by seeing him get pounced on the day he joined the RPG. Not perhaps, the best reason either I have freely admitted. But 'somewhat' noble. But even that had more justification then claiming a Turkish spy relayed a conversation on a hilltop. Public proclamations of intent to an entire court are rather different. Hell , up until then I was content to leave you to your own devices.

So we'll see what happens. Unlike in RL, generalship does not do much except in a very broad sense. It comes down to mathematics and random events, so it takes much of the luster from war. Especially when the winner is mostly decided by bullshitting behind the scenes and then forming a NATO pact to swoop in on an individual, often with quaint 20th century notions of how divided the religions were. Hell, the Greek people preferred the Muslims over the Catholics most of the time.

But I'll ride this out and see what happens. A lucky roll in a battle and then Murad will carry off the Queen Dowager of Hungary to be bred with his horse.

Lets take it to IC rather than arguing in the lounge, shall we?

I don't see whats that IC about it. I was lulled into a false of security by Kats preaching about how diplomatic posts weren't abused, only to have mysterious turkish spies report on an conversation on a hilltop resulting in the Greek Emperor beginning to send a flurry of diplomatic communiques including his own person everywhere form Hungary to Anjou before it had even finished.

I found it silly, and of course everyone can yawn and get behind a rousing game of attack the only Muslim.

But I'm still fully prepared to fight it out. I just find it hardly worth the RP. Hell no sooner had I completed RPing out a treaty with Elias that he decided to jump ship and head for the Golden Horde with stars in his eyes, Mormegil was banned out of the blue and I've been waiting a rather long time for Venice's reply after my last post in his court. so I'm just not finding anything that fun or worth the effort at the moment after a quadruple whammy mostly amounting to repeated OOC inconveniance.

But I do need to find these turkish spies that invented the cellphone 600 years ahead of time.

Damocales, you are correct; your private conversations in other courts are for spectators' enjoyment of the storylines, not for people to use as IC knowledge against you.

This is a difficult task: seperating OOC knowledge gleaned from enjoying other people's writings and interaction that one gets as an individual, and guarding that from your IC characters. It's somthing we should all work on.

Unless the spies were RPed well in advance as establishing themselves, and had Katz's RP permission to have access to such private information in his court, I, personally, would consider it a breach of form.

You guys do know that I've never even read his court?

I have a huge CB on the Ottoman Empire anyway. Not only that, but my whole plan as the Byzantine Empire has been to crush the Ottoman Empire as soon as I possibly could. Furthermore, my ambassadors have been lying about "Turkish spies" to gain allies. And from what I'm told, Damocles has quite a history as a troublemaker, so it hasn't exactly been hard to do so.

Bothj of you remember that it was not the strength of the Turk, or the lack of power of the west that made the Turk victorious.. it was the inabilty of the wst to act concerted... esp. barred by the Venetians more insterested in trade...

No one really liked the Greek that much ;) but conisder that my recently dead count managed a good deal of damage with only 6000 men, so it is not impossible to dislodge the Turks if they fail to unite the tribes.. it just wasn't done in history is not the same as not being able to do so now..

Anyone thinking of invading the Turk should remember that those who seek to divide the Church are much more dangerous than those who merely seek to destroy it wholesale!

Go kick some Orthodox/Avignon/Roman schismatics, time enough to deal with the muslims later :D

You're sounding like the reincarnated version of Alex Pharaoh. There is clearly no big conspiracy against the Ottoman Empire. It's just hard to say no to "I'm going to get raped by a heathen. Help me and you get vast lands."

I doubt Ic or Praetor really care. :)

I'm sure Sweden's position is the last thing the Greeks are worried about. ;) If there was ever someone who was irrelevant in the Balkans, it was someone north of the Baltic Sea.

Me on the other hand, I'm not sure if I'll be giving Sicily any money if they decide to participate in this fiasco.

One thing I am sure of is that it'll be hard for the Ottomans to get broad support. Byzantium is close with Granada, and the Timurids are piss poor because of their Horde status.
