New store for purchasing printed strategy guides open at GameGadgets.com​

NEW YORK, March 19th 2010 – Paradox Interactive launched today a new service called GameGadgets, which allows gamers to purchase strategy guides for Paradox Interactive's games. The first product is the official strategy guide to “Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne”. The service can be accessed from www.GameGadgets.com . Order processing and printing is currently handled by Lulu.com, a popular online print-on-demand service.

“We consider this an experiment to see what interest people have in physical products related to our games. If it's successful, we might consider expanding the product line”, says Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive.

The Heir to the Throne strategy guide is a detailed guidebook with 112 pages jam packed with details about the game and how to play it successfully. It also contains historical notes on the Renaissance period, including the Holy Roman Empire and the English Civil War.

The book is written by Ed Hanks who has written numerous strategy guides for Paradox Interactive, starting with the Europa Universalis III: Collector's Edition guidebook back in 2006.

Will the older titles be available aswell? I've been meaning to get my hands on the EU2 strategy guide.

Hi,

Valid question! popped into Fredriks office and had a quick chat about it. Older strategy guides are absolutely a possibility. Why not if it's something you guys want. It's a simple matter of enough people showing interest in them. How many? hard to say.

There are some costs involved in reworking older files to work with the print service. Then again maybe that's something our handy community can help out with, which in turn would mean less people would need to show interest for the older guides to see the light of day.

Let's see how this one turns out and then start taking a look at how we'll move forward.

Would it be possible to simply release the files themselves? I don't expect there is a huge demand for printed Eu2 guides, really.

i keep getting popups that the document is trying to connect to the gamegadgets site ,is that normal?

What about game manuals, will those be available? The one thing I dislike about digital downloading games is the .pdf manuals. I would very likely use this to buy game manuals if they were available.
