I recently learned about the Paradox Grand Campaign and am very intrigued by the idea of it. If I had either all the games or the money to get them and their DLC I'd probably start right now. But how? I know CK2 has a DLC for moving your save to EU2 and I have it, but what about the other games? I looked to see if EU2 had a similar DLC fro going to the next game and it doesn't. So how do I continue my game on to the next two?

thus far there's no official way to get from CK2-HOI 4. since there's no V3 to round out the 4th generation PDS collection the EU4 would have to be converted to V2 with a fan-made converter. same thing for V2-HOI 4.

so yeah, the Dream is missing quite a few critical pieces.

There was a EU3-to-Vic converter, but I'm not aware of any EU4 converter .
Anyway, starting in 769 and ending in 1821 it's a long run .....

With Hoi4's custom scenario tools its techically possible just alot of work.

Ck2-Eu4-fanmade converter-Vicky2-scenario editing- HOIV

It'd still be nice to have V3 to complete the chain with official support

Hoi4's custom scenario tools
Do you mean the Nudger? I don't really think you should use that for scenario editing as it's probably only more work. The nudger is more for actual province adding/reshaping and makes that extremely easy but the gain for scenario editing is quite low seeing as you'll constantly have to alt-tab while you could also just use the files who only give problems in France as they're badly named there (3 alsace-lorraines or something)...

But if you don't mean the nudger, please enlighten me :)....

There's also a vic2-to-hoi4 fanmade converter btw, though I don't know what the status of that one is (on the other hand, by the time you've played through CK2-to-EU4-to-Vic2 it's probably ready...

Yea the Nudger, But my experience with it is only reading the Dev Diary. I wouldn't be suprised if Paradox missed some basic features like being able to actually switch province ownership/cores with it. Changing IC and Province ownership/cores is the bare minimum I would think to set up custom scenarios but if that doesn't work that's unfortunate.

In terms of actually playing a grand campaign (a phrase I've seen more recently instead of mega-campaign), one tip I keep seeing is to roleplay leader traits in CK2, or find some other goal besides world conquest. Otherwise, blobbing ends the campaign too quickly. The various mega-campaign AARs may be useful for inspiration.

Couldn't agree more. I tried a Byzzie GC once, it was the most boring game of EUIV I ever played. Quit about 100 years in because I had most of Europe and North Africa, so what's the point?

Stay small and role play in CK2, don't snowball in EUIV, make sure the other GPs stay relatively close to you in Vic2, just so you can have an interesting HoI IV game.

Roleplaying the traits can be a lot of fun. Though it can get painful when you realise that there's no way the ruler would make the "smart" decision in certain circumstances, given their traits. After all, no historical dynasty produced an unbroken line of incredibly able rulers, so even just avoiding that helps create a more plausible playthrough.
