Something like this concept that Creative Assembly showed off recently. It shows you all your mods, if it's up to date, allows you to enable/disable it, allows you to change load order, has filter options, etc. One important thing I would add to that is a conflict detector. Otherwise, you wouldn't know how to change your load order. It's crazy to me that we have these complex games with literally thousands of mods, but no good mod manager.

Better mod management is always better, but, with the CKII and EUIV game launchers, you can see which mods are up-to-date.

Load order for a few things are set in the mods themselves.

As for the conflict detector, i don't see how the developers could have the game detect those. It is to the modders to mention compatibility (or lack thereof), and to the player to pay attention to what modders say.

Sorry, but there are tons of mod managers out there that detect mod conflicts and allow you to change load order accordingly. Nexus Mod Manager is the most popular one. Games that have thousands of mods need a serious mod manager. It's just common sense.

Load order and conflict detector are great features and I would love them to be included in Paradox mod managers. But I think that due to the nature of these games, a lot of the most problematic conflicts would only be discovered upon loading and compiling. Unless your conflict detection is based on a simple filename comparison, but I'm not sure exactly how useful that would be.

Unless your conflict detection is based on a simple filename comparison, but I'm not sure exactly how useful that would be.
That wouldn't be a guarantee for no conflicts---far from it. You'd pretty much have to have the program go through the files and look for various conflicts---which given all the obscure ways PI games can break isn't really feasible.

The conflict detection would be a perk... The one thing that SHOULD be included is Load Order and Enable/Disable control, at the very least. Especially when you design your game to be HIGHLY modifiable.
