check the low cost German airlines like Air Berlin or German Wings. They usually have very reasonable prices.

Also note that Düsseldorf airport is almost as close as Cologne-Bonn airport and usually has more flights available.

Had to get rid of my car some time ago because I'm studying now, but at at least I can drive anywhere in Thüringen for free :mellow:
