Those grant independence option is great! I hope it will have a real effect on gameplay, because, well I don't see any reason I'd like to sacrifice one of my provinces (other thing if you can liberate other nations when you conquest their territories and PRIOR to peace negotiations, so you further weaken that nation, like Napoleon did)
So far, the new features on EU2 are most promising, but I greatly fear the lack of new graphics...
