Para Drop Help

I have been trying to use my airborne units as Germany. I have two divisions 6 BAT, 5 Support Units. Weight is 3.5
I have 70 Transports. I have selected from the air field to the place I want to drop them. I have 85 Percent air support. The never move.
Any help will be grateful.

You can access tool tips by selecting the army and hovering over the General. The most likely reason is that you lack air superiority.

I'm assuming that your paras are already on the air strip, the destination is within range, you are at war and the base is yours or belongs to someone already at war with the target.

I don't know if it is essential, but I've found that if I want to drop in multiple areas it works much better to break the transports into smaller squadrons capable of carrying the weight needed.

Some things to check:

1. The air superiority required is over the air region you intend to drop the troops into, not the one they are taking off from.

2. The transport planes need to have enough mission range to reach the target. Check to see that in air mode the transports don't have a warning like "x airwings do not have coverage". Sometimes the troopers say all is well, but the transports disagree.

3. Make sure everything is at the airport, the transports and the troops, and that all planes have actually arrived. Also make sure the planes are NOT assigned to the air region.

4. Make sure that airport is in primary supply (supply route back to capital) with no shortages.

5. Make sure that all para divisions are in the same army with each other and that all are assigned to the battle plan. Sometimes if you had to move one of them to meet the others at the airbase, the latecomer is not assigned to the plan even though it looks like it should be.

6. If nothing has turned up so far, reset the orders and then save the game. Reload. If no joy, quit and reload again.

Oh, one more thing that believe it or not does occasionally trip people up: make sure you are at war with the nation you are about to paradrop onto. Example, as Germany make sure you have already delivered and then gotten the "newspaper" event about your declaration of war on Denmark before trying to paradrop on Odense.

From my experience its not possible to paradrop from an overcrowded airstrip.

1. I know that the air superiority has to be in the area of the drop. I was going from the air base in Greece to Crete.
2. I will check the supply route. I am in a Italian controlled air field. Could that be a problem?
3. My Para divisions are in the same army with Gen Student as commanding general.

Could be. You are reliant there on the Italians keeping up with their logistics. Not a sure bet, I'd guess.

To all, thanks, it was the supply route, it was very poor in Greece. Move to a Bulgaria airfield and tried again. I also found out that you have to hit the execute button by the General's picture. They flew and died a very bad death. Landed them on top of four Greek divisions. I'm rebuilding more paratroopers divisions now and will try again.

So bad terrible disaster, but a mystery solved. Huzzah! .... ish
